Métaphysique 101 - Les Canalisations

Éclats | Blanc is part of the cycle of electroacoustical pieces that explore the timbre and textural possibilities given by acoustic musical instruments being played in non-traditional ways. In this piece, I have been working with the flutist Julie Delisle to get different kinds of sounds and articulations from flutes and I have been manipulating a timpani to get percussive sounds. The use of different microphone positions has permitted to get a wide array of sound objects spreading in all the frequencies spectrum. These sounds have been cut and then edited into an entirely new context, to which have been added programmed sound layers to create a duet in which both acoustic and synthesis sound are sometimes put in opposition and other times fusion to each other.
