Dr. Todd Kevin Young grew up in Springdale, Newfoundland, where his connection to a close-knit community shaped his outlook on healthcare. Over time, he built a career dedicated to supporting rural patients and improving access to essential services. His work has spanned clinical care, leadership, education, and innovation, reflecting a long-standing commitment to the well-being of people across the province.

Todd’s early path in healthcare began with his training as a registered nurse, which laid a strong clinical foundation that guided his future studies. He worked in northern Indigenous communities, where limited resources demanded adaptability and compassion. Later, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a Nurse Practitioner, experiences that strengthened his belief in better systems of care for remote areas.

Motivated to expand his role, Todd pursued medical training at McMaster University, earning his degree in 2004 and completing a rural family medicine residency in 2006. He later undertook further education, including an Executive MBA in Occupational Health and Safety and specialized dermatology studies. These qualifications enhanced his ability to lead programs designed for communities that often lacked dependable medical access.

Upon returning to Newfoundland and Labrador, Todd served as a rural family and emergency physician and became the physician lead at the Green Bay Health Center. There, he guided clinical operations and supported care delivery in his hometown. He also served as Medical Director at Valley Vista Seniors Home and as a Medical Examiner, bringing consistency and thoughtful oversight to key aspects of community health.

In 2016, Todd founded the Main Street Medical Clinic, where he introduced a blended model of in-person and virtual care to reduce barriers for rural patients. He also created Medicuro Virtual Health Inc., expanding access to timely consultations across the province. He later developed Newfoundland and Labrador’s first rapid-access addictions program, establishing multiple satellite clinics that provide immediate support to individuals seeking help.

Dr. Todd Young has also contributed to academic medicine through teaching at Memorial University and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. His achievements have earned him honors, including fellowships in family and rural medicine and a nomination for a Human Rights Award. Beyond his professional work, he supports local initiatives, donates to charitable organizations, and remains deeply committed to strengthening the community where he was raised.
