A midnight procession

Rauhnächte are the nights and days between winter solstice and January 2nd, when the human and spirit worlds collide.

At the time when there is a fire or a famine or plague, a fire-red calf has been roaming the so-called Ochsengasse in Mergentheim with a terrible roar for ages. It is said that it was often seen and heard in Mergentheim in the past.

Summoning the red calf

A small track I created in December 2022. Just a drone, an arpeggio and lots of filter automation. Best listened with a subwoofer :)

Created with a few sequences from the MicroFreak, heavy sample editing in Reaper and field recordings from a local meadow.

Three menhirs at the clearing

A few days ago, we had some strong rainfall and I recorded its sound at the open bedroom window. I then created some chords and drones in with the Microfreak, drenched it all in some nice Valhalla reverbs, and here it is: A somber journey through the rain to end all rains.

This is based on a chord progression/melody I came up a few months ago. Added a few arpeggios and field recordings, and pushed everything through some nice moog-style ladder filters and saturation plugins.*

The footsteps you hear are taken from a field recording of me walking through Finnish snow :)
