SUNANDBASS Podcast #80, our second of 2019, comes from the immense talent that is @anile. 

Known for his ability to craft a wide range of sounds and styles, he can take a dancefloor to pieces with his weighty steppers or, carry you away with with deep melodies. After a short hiatus following his weighty Allergens EP in 2016 and a smattering of singles in 2017, he is finally back with a brand new seven track EP epic on The North Quarter, a piece that is sure to please a whole raft of discerning Drum & Bass fans.

His DJ sets are also no different to his own music, moving and stepping between flavours and emotions. His new SUNANDBASS Podcast is the perfect tonic against February’s swarming polar vortex – get wrapped up in it!

Today's installment in the Booms and Claps mix series comes to us from London's Lewis James in the form of a 47 minute turbo-charged high octane journey through halftime drum and bass beats, footwork, jungle, electro-influenced ghettotech and juke, and 160 bpm rave music. We've had our eye on Lewis for quite some time now, from his early self-released Bandcamp beats, to releases on the legendary Lowriders Recordings and Rua Sound, to his recent success with major uptempo bass music imprints like 1985 Music and Astrophonica Recordings, and we couldn't be more excited to see where he goes from here. From what we're hearing in this mix, it seems like he's taken an interest in the four on the floor 160 bpm electro sound that has been championed recently by folks like Fracture and Om Unit, and we certainly hope there's more to come from him in that vein.
