Some may call Viju strange, but she is no stranger to the jungle. As an Artist, DJ, and Music Producer, This Vibrant Junglist has been making her musical journey around north america for over two decades.
Her roots began in Philadelphia, PA and slowly spread out to from the East Coast to the West Coast- then up to Canada and back down to the South. She currently continues to produce music and mixes in the Gulf Coast of Florida. Viju loves to big up her fellow junglists in musical collaborations and even friendly competition- such as the Jungle Wars Sound clash or Jungle Beat Battles.
Though sometimes elusive, You can find a trail of her all over the Jungle through her art or her promotion of many North American Labels and Record Companies such as PPJ (Pushing Proper Jungle). She has over 40 produced tunes which can be found on SoundCloud and YouTube. Her most recent song can be found through Jungle Gym Audio on all platforms.
Her style can be rough or smooth and she can be relentless when chopping and mashing up different sounds. Viju infuses many samples from hip hop to RNB, to soul and reggae, breakbeat to breakcore, and even more recently mixing in some footwork vibes. Her sound is always filled with intelligent drum breaks, interesting basslines, and samples that create a story and atmosphere full of vibrant jungle.

Featured Friday #64 ***VIJU***

Recently I had a debate with someone about the term "liquid". He feels it's become an outdated term to describe what's basically become 75% of all DNB music produced today, and in a way he's right. I've long stopped worrying whether "liquid" actually describes what I play in these sessions. Instead I use the term loosely, mostly to set some sort of expectation of what you'll be hearing from me. In all practicality, I like to play across the board. It's deep, it's soulful, it's techy at times, it's dark minimal at others. It's abstract, it's jazzy, it's rolling, it's dancefloor, it's peak time stuff, it's afterhours stuff. Mainly I want it all to make sense in relation to each other. I'm less concerned about what to exactly call it. It's like that famous saying "House is a feeling"... Maybe "Liquid" is also a feeling and not just a specific sound? To be continued...

With over 20 years of experience behind the decks and a diverse range of musical influences, you will not find ill-legal? confined by the restrictions of any single genre. With sets that often incorporate multiple styles of music, he delivered exclusive edits, unreleased tunes, and precise scratches. All of these are signature elements of his style as a dj and turntablist.

At the current time, he holds a residency with the Rumble Drum & Bass crew based in Phoenix, Arizona. Beyond playing records, he has also organized and thrown many successful weekly and one-off events, as well as spending time in the studio producing unique remixes and mash-ups.

Featured Friday #92 ***Ill-Legal?***

This was an unexpectedly fun session. After a hefty work week I was feeling a little unprepared on Saturday and decided to sort of dig in to organize and analyze all the new music and promos and strategize on the direction this session was gonna take. A lot of the new stuff had that summer soul feel to it so I just let that be the guiding vibe. First hour was soulful feelgood lush liquid vibes for the most part. Things got a little darker and driving after the midpoint before settling into a stripped dark minimal roller type groove. Last 30 minutes I threw in a little jungle before bringing things down into some futuristic R&B vocal style liquid towards the end. Great turnout and interaction in the chat this week (We even had a Hype Train!). Really enjoyed myself. Much love to the LLL family 🖤
