While the weather around here may leave a little something to be desired on Independence Day, it doesn’t stop us from celebrating anyway. This week on The Armory Podcast, we’re pleased to welcome Manchester’s Breaksjunky (aka Martyn King), a 2013 Breakspoll finalist for “Best New DJ”, to the 1s and 2s. Press play. Get down!

It has been a great start to the year for Breaksjunky, After being nominated in 2013 at Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards for 'Best New DJ' and narrowly missing out, he came back even stronger to not only take the Award in 2014, putting his name on everyone’s lips, but also adding 'Best Radio Show' to the collection.

When Manchester's Breaksjunky first stepped up to the decks in 2002 he had a simple ambition, to infect the masses with Big, Fat, Dirty BASS!! Since those early days he has only gone from strength to strength with a string of performances for some of the biggest names in Club Land, playing along side the like of: Grandmaster Flash, Plump DJs, Stanton Warriors, The Freestylers, Dub Pistols, Meat Katie, Cut La Roc, Elite Force, Far Too Loud, Gaudi, Dub Mafia, Slamboree, Monk3ylogic, Krossbow, Bad Tango & Justin Robertson to name a few.

Not content with just rubbing shoulders with the greats, Breaksjunky has made it his personal mission to play at all of the U.K's most inspirational club nights and festivals. 2013 saw him play a string of stand out sets across the U.K and take to the stage at Boomtown Fair, Ravenstonedale Festival and being Honoured with opening the amazing, 'Fortress' stage at The Beat-Herder Festival. 

As well as his own Radio Show, awards and DJ sets, Breaksjunky is also a chart success having his debut track “All That Junk” co produced with Zen Cartel, do very well in the Beatport Breaks chart since it’s release and has lots of new projects and co labs underway! 

Most recently Breaksjunky has started to infect Europe & Asia performing in Copenhagen in Denmark, Bangkok & Phuket in Thailand and has more International bookings in the pipeline, he's all about spreading the gospel of Breaks.

With the buzz still going after his current Awards, 2014 is set to be a another great year!!

James Wolfe is one of those guys that really needs no introduction, but just in case you haven't kept up with the last nearly 20 years of Electro Bass history, we will give you the scoop on this fascinating Florida artist with years upon years of experience as a DJ, Producer, and Label Owner.
As one of Florida's most renowned DJ's, "Kid Wonder" as some would call him, started out as a young and highly dedicated professional, DJ'ing at some of the most notorious festivals and events not just in the region, but all across the nation. Having spent many years as an employee of the legendary "DJ Store" in West Palm Beach, later going on to work at the equally legendary Dancetarium record store, he not only learned about the vast music catalog available; primarily coming out of Europe, but also essentially single-handedly helped to expose a generation to music that otherwise would have never made it over to the state.
Later being taken under the wing of iconic producer David Noller of Dynamix II, James Wolfe would learn the craft of producing classic Electro Bass, shortly after releasing his debut "Techtonic Plates E.P." on his new imprint Frajile Recordings. Since then, the label and artist have had a very prolific run, bringing us many classic 12" hits by artists like his own Resident Alien, Techtonic Plates, Aero, Scratch-D, not to mention a wide selection of titles by himself, including his new pseudonym "F8".
This month, James Wolfe records his first-ever Technobass.net feature, bringing us many released and unreleased songs carefully selected, and in some cases exclusively made available to him specifically for this carefully produced set. Don't sleep on this one, as this is a rare appearance, and one that will go down in the books and one of our best yet!

Lee Coombs started his DJing career in the late 80's producing his first track under the guise of The Invisible Men. With a chance meeting with Finger Lickin label boss Justin Rushmoore Lee found a home to release his special brand of music.

This mix was recorded for Triple J Radio Australia in 2003 and is an example of Lee's musical style.

The Glastonbury Festival is a five-day festival of contemporary performing arts that takes place near Pilton, Somerset, UK. In addition to contemporary music, the festival hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and many other arts. Leading pop and rock artists have headlined, alongside thousands of others appearing on smaller stages and performance areas.

This mix was part of Annie Nightingale's Glastonbury Breakbeat Special back in June 2004.

Cooke is a classically trained musician and was at the forefront of the early Nu Skool Breaks scene back in the early 2000's with his unique style that fitted well with music from that day. He had quite a few releases on Rennie Pilgrem's label TCR along with other artists such as Chris Carter, General Midi, Elite Force and JDS to name a few.

Basically Tayo is a legend when it comes to the breakbeat scene.....

After paying his warm up dues as a drum and bass DJ alongside Fabio, Grooverider and Peshay, Tayo set up Friction with fellow members of the breakbeat elite, Adam Freeland and Rennie Pilgrem and watched the club and it’s residents become a focal point for the UK breakbeat sound.

With other residencies back in the day at Fabric, Bugged Out! and Big Beat Boutique to name a few and various appearances on the Kiss FM Breakbeat show Tayo made a name for himself as a DJ playing along side the likes of Carl Cox, Layo & Bushwacka, Hybrid, Lee Burridge and Craig Richards as well as the endless people he met while on his travels around the world.

After a 2 month stint in Australia playing various clubs and festivals Tayo put together the exclusive mix for Triple J Radio back in January 2004.
