Drumcode - part 2

Timmo is a new name to Drumcode and one in which they hope to be seeing more of. Having released tracks on Fone, BluFin, Octopus and Alleanza to name a few, Timmo's production career is set to shine as his new material is getting noticed from the likes of Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Richie Hawtin, Nicole Moudaber, Len Faki, Dustin Zahn to name a few. Also launching his own highly revered radio show called 'Big Room' which,has had guests such as Robert Babicz, Umek, Fergie, Alan Fitzpatrick and many more,Timmo is a name to look out for in 2014.  Timmo's debut Drumcode release 'We Beat On' carries a flow through out that gives Timmo his own unique sound that has captured the ears of many highly revered techno DJ's around the world. Timmo uses hypnotic sounds and phrases whilst he always maintains a thumping techno beat that underlies all the tracks within this EP to maximum effect. Furthermore, there is a ghostly feel amongst Timmo's tracks that really provide him with his acquired sound, the pads in 'Canvas' are a beautiful reminder of this. Timmo also uses strong synth stabs to full effect that juxtapose against the drums to help create the tension and aggression that is present within techno.

SCI+TEC explore new territories with their latest release by welcoming Hungarian producer and rising star AndReew to the family. Having already impressed with his releases for Form Music, Amazing Records and Deeperfect, the young man from Budapest readies the new four track ’Surreal’ ep for his label debut. 

AndReew’s brand of funky, minimal techno carries all the hallmarks of the SCI+TEC sound. The release is lead by the popping melody and rising rushes of ‘Pray’ and the efficient, linear, snare-driven tool that is ‘Connect’.

On the flip we kick off with the hypnotic, rubbery rises and staccato vocal stabs of the title track, before being stripped to the ‘Bone’, with it’s pulsing, twisted siren closing the EP.  A fine opening label salvo from AndReew!

Presented as a three-track EP, Slam’s latest body of work for Drumcode covers a range of styles, drawing on their vast experience of the multi-colored nature of techno. Vespula, with its resolute groove and low, humming bass works the speakers hardest, while synth stabs, dramatic drawn out chords and a distinctive two-tone hook add contrast. Resume puts musicality to the fore by creating a melodic ride that flows from an undulating bass line and a soaring synth line whilst retaining a strong percussive energy. Metus beats out a slow burning but impactful groove that swings between an intricate, multi-layered arrangement of wigged out atmospherics and industrial clunks and clanks. DC94 Slam - Vespula - Drumcode

Contained within this eleven-track compilation is a collection of tracks submitted to Drumcode as demos but which didn’t have other tracks to be partnered with to make up a classical Drumcode EP. Such was the quality and quantity of these stunning one-off tracks that the idea of making them into a compilation was born primarily for practical reasons. As the project grew the idea became a theme and the theme evolved into a finished project – A-Sides - which tells both the story of Drumcode’s recent past with familiarly high-octane tracks from Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Joseph Capriati, Gary Beck, Gregor Tresher and Dustin Zahn & Rachel Palmer but also gives a glance into what is to come as the likes of Patrick Siech, Luigi Madonna, Roberto Capuano, Dhillon and Manic Brothers get their chance to contribute to the shaping Drumcode’s future.

Bart’s EP kicks off with ‘Brave New World’, which uses pitch curved synth lines to create a unique groove before opening up the filter to be released back into the track. ‘Hypnotizing’ uses a percussion line that evolves into a melodic section within the breakdown that is supported by a catchy vocal line. ‘New Ground’ uses a trippy bleeps and a rolling drum beat to create a lively record. ‘Cabana’ is slightly different to the rest of the EP and offers a distinctive set-builder using a rising and diving synth line that is guaranteed to get people on the dancefloor.
