With the sound of Drumcode’s 15 Year anniversary still ringing in the ears of those who attended one of the labels special tour events or bought the commemorative compilation, Adam Beyer’s seminal Techno label dusts down the bunting and rolls out the party banners once again this month to celebrate the labels landmark 100th release. With such longevity being a mark of the consistency that has come to define Drumcode’s output over the years, it is highly appropriate that this milestone occasion be marked by releasing two new Adam Beyer tracks, The Color Out Of Space and Lovecraft, a collaboration with Ida Engberg, that follows up her Blue Yonder EP from September 2011

Drumcode mark their landmark 100th release with a two-track EP that comes directly from the heart of the label’s operation. Just as with the label’s first release sixteen years ago, Adam Beyer positions himself at the controls, unleashing the shimmering ‘The Color Out Of Space’ with its euphoric melody riding on the back of nagging chords and booming kick. A product of Beyer’s studio collaboration with Ida Engberg, ‘Lovecraft’ takes its place on the b-side, cutting a trippy journey through distinctive chord patterns and undulating melodies that bounce around in the mix, underpinned by a heads-down groove.

After the success of the first A-sides compilation in 2012, Adam Beyer has decided its time to release another. With Adam’s stature steadily growing as one of the leading talents in the Techno scene and the rise of Drumcode, the standard of demo’s that have been sent to Adam have been top notch. Adam has now decided to release two compilations with 10 tracks each, consisting of tracks that Adam has tried and tested. There are also new artists that have been invited to release on Drumcode for this compilation and others who are a staple in Drumcode’s core family. Combining both old and new talents Drumcode have come up with something unique and distinctive to make this two-part compilation something extra special.

<p>Eric Sneo&#8217;s hit &#8220;Metanoia&#8221; gets updated and first up is a beefed-up version with an assortment of effects and tasty synth action injected into it. Pig &amp; Dan have taken over for the remix, and opt for a completely different approach, employing intricate percussion and crackling highs into their shuffling groove. Focusing on the main theme, the boys bring out their loopy sensibilities and let the melody shine, courtesy of their sparse arrangement and subliminal bassline.</p>

It bravely makes its way through the ocean and sings at the top of its lungs. All alone. 
I am talking about the “loneliest whale in the world”. When the US Navy first happened to record its song with underwater microphones at the end of the 1980s, they could not immediately identify the sound. This is because the whale sings at a frequency of 52 hertz. Quite low for human ears. But much higher than its conspecifics. Nicknamed “52 Hertz”, the unusual whale has already inspired writers and musicians. It touches people's hearts. I feel sorry for the supposedly outcast marine mammal, because we know what loneliness feels like. What kind of whales are these? Why don't his fellow whales finally accept him into their circle? It's simple: they can't hear him.

That's why Steve made a song for him, maybe he can hear it somehow. Is that why so many people make music to be heard?

Whales are our friends because they are impressive, intelligent creatures and make extremely good sound.  By protecting the oceans, we safeguard the habitat of these majestic animals and preserve biodiversity. Clean and healthy oceans are just as important for us humans as they are for these ingenious animals. Protecting the oceans is therefore essential for the well-being of all living creatures on our planet.  😘

Nicole Moudaber is a name we are used to hearing on the radar as a Drumcode artist and she is showing us what she can do on the funkier side of the spectrum with her new EP now landing on Truesoul. Both tracks merge her signature techno sound into something that still contains stacks of class and character. The evolving sounds in both tracks build tension and energy to create after hour burners.

Layton Giordani makes his Truesoul debut with a pumping, three track release. The high energy tracks showcase Layton’s youthful and fresh approach to production. ‘Unspoken’, holding a pounding kick drum and thumping techno sound, is the heavier of the three tracks whilst ‘Misunderstood’ and ‘Trusting You’ cut a lighter groove. The samples are uplifting, sounds imaginative and the percussion is tight - this EP is not to be missed.

After nearly a year since their sophomore album 'The Other', Pan-Pot return home to Second State with a stunning EP showcasing the duos proficiency for composing dynamic, cutting-edge Techno.
Over the span of three tracks, 'Solace' EP navigates through a trifecta of distinct styles that unquestionably bear the mark of Pan-Pot's masterstroke. Kicking it off at a breakneck pace is the title track 'Solace' with rapid fire low end and intense tones laying the bedrock for a wildly uplifting presentation of keys creating the ideal balance between opposing forces.
Up next is 'Consequence' which see the duo team up with Martin Eyerer for a newly styled trip down memory lane. By pairing key elements of the sounds of early Pan-Pot and contemporary production, the trio have succeeded in conceiving a fever inducing, big room hit.
Rounding out the EP is 'Lose Yourself' and it is by far the most grandiose of the trilogy. Lush pads and soaring sonic stairs build toward a zenith as the ceaseless chant of "lose yourself" escorts the traveller through an elated dream.
To top it all off, Pan-Pot personally enlisted the expertise of IMF's label boss, the mighty Marcel Fengler. With an astute awareness, Fengler weaves the original artifacts of ‘Lose Yourself' into a truly unique orchestration of rugged percussion and euphoric abstraction.
Although it's been a year since we last saw Pan-Pot on Second State, once you experience 'Solace', we think you'll agree, it's good to have the bosses back home.
