CLR is back with release number 83 and has something very special in store this time. Monoloc´s latest effort offers a challenging mixture of various electronic music genres. Apart from the original version and the Monoloc Edit, which occupy the A side of the vinyl, two highly respected producers have contributed remixes to this project, making it an impressive assembly of potential A sides.

Monoloc´s original version underlines the capacity of the Berlin based producer, to create unorthodox, suspenseful Techno with a very personal handwriting. Once more the beat structure, treatment of vocal bits, the selection of sounds and the overall arrangement and production style make his productions easily recognizable and truly unique. His additional edit surprises with a mesmerizing and enchanting sequence, which could easily become one of those laid back after hour sunrise classics. The two versions alone would make a dignified EP already, but then there are the remixes by Roman Lindau and Rødhåd, which turn this release into one of the most diversified CLR releases ever. While Roman Lindau takes a House oriented direction and excellently works out the potential of the track on the more uplifting side of the musical spectrum, Berghain resident Rødhåd explores the dark side of Monoloc´s composition and delivers a haunting Techno version full of well balanced bass, phasing sequences and an irresistible, almost tribal rhythm structure.

CLR083 is one of those releases that characterises the direction the label has taken over the last years and is equally interesting to DJs from all kinds of stylistic branches of the scene. It´s available on vinyl as well as digitally and will surely grace countless record bags and playlists all over the world.

Imitations are floating around...but it takes the creators of the original to do justice to a remake of one of the most influential tracks in music history. Mixmag listed Acid Tracks, the original, in their top 25 tracks that has shaped music history in all genres. DJ Pierre, one of the creators, of the original has teamed up with another Chicago Legend of Electronic Green Velvet AKA Cajmere, known for massive hits such as "LA LA Land" and "The Percolator". The result is "Acid Trax 2011", the official revamped release of ACID Trax originally by the masters-Phuture. DJ Pierre and Green Velvet teamed up to totally re-produce this acid anthem. DJ Pierre, acid house creator and WildPitch innovator, has been re-inventing himself and his art for years. He is best known for his role in the creation of Acid House using the Roland 303 while in the group Phuture.

A few years back he introduced the "afro acid" way of djing which includes all styles of electronica. Building on that he has now introduced a LIVE element to his sets! Pierre is now using the Roland 303, the very instrument that shaped his sound, to create another LIVE dimension to his talent.

This is a new re-work/remake of the Original ACID track by Phuture that started it all. DJ Pierre and Green Velvet teamed up to totally re produce this acid anthem. With the old acid re-tweaked, new drums, added sound FX and breakdowns Acid Trax is ready to dominate the new millennia as it did the last.

For our new CLR release two artists from the CLR family went on individual missions to remix the MOTOR track "Hyper Lust" (feat. Billie Ray Martin) taken from the recently released and critically acclaimed album 'Man Made Machine'. The first is Monoloc, a very talented DJ and Producer who is currently finishing his debut album for the upcoming release on CLR. The other is Juan Pablo Pfirter, an internationally respected Techno ambassador from Buenos Aires who has been working with the label for years. Each one of them has taken this honorable task as serious as anyone could imagine, and each one of them has created a unique, exiting and dignified remix of the original track.

Monoloc’s take is a rather slow half-beat approach with a thick and well-defined bass, chopped up vocals and innovative effects. It shows much of his characteristic trademark style and has a simultaneously pleasant and slightly alarming vibe. Pfirter delivers the straight forward, yet atmospheric and groovy Techno mix of this EP, and just like Monoloc, he does it with excellence. The choice of sounds, the highly creative programming and the quality of the mix are simply faultless.

The album release of 'Man Made Machine' has crowned the launch of CLR’s new sub-label CLRX, and like the recently released remixes of the title track by Radio Slave, Black Asteroid, Chris Liebing and Luke Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems, this brand new release also pays massive respect to the work of this pioneering Techno duo by the name of MOTOR.

Now, what do we have here... A brand new offering by Mr. https://soundcloud.com/panthera-krause. You know, Krause as in Riotvan shareholder and co-curator, fun guy behind the decks (and in general) and last but not least innovator and maverick of all things House. Krause has been proven over the course of his previous EPs on Riotvan that his approach to electronic music is one of a kind and never lacks a certain tongue in cheek attitude. Exactly that is now validated by these two new cuts, maybe more concise and on point than ever. And these tunes are not only an indicator about where the boy is at right now, they are also a foretaste of an album that will be released later that year on Riotvan.

Side one contains the "Genki Girl", a character of the rather quirky kind, it seems. Krause introduces a beat rich in cowbell and tambourine use, topped by a guitar lick, that sparks some memories of that time when Funk and Punk fell in love and a label like DFA had its heydays. While adding synth arrangements, one could assume, Krause might've gone a bit bonkers for a second. And that's applying to both, the rhythmic patterns as well as the lead that throughout time gets adapted by various other instruments. A rich and haywire tune that still retains an utmost floor appeal. 

Same goes for "Spring Irre" on the flipside. As the German title already indicates, this one is even nuttier. Guitar samples triggering a certain Talking Heads memento meet eccentric pitchshift modulations and an indeed jumping bass sounding as if it was played by Bootsy Collins on ephedrine. A sidestepping, plain unpredictable monster of a track that despite of all its complexity at any moment delivers groove and joy and unrestricted frenzy.

It is Thursday the 8th of November and on the occasion of the recent release of Monoloc´s debut album “Drift” on CLR we offer you a special mega-mix including excerpts of the entirety of the featured tracks, done by Monoloc himself. Furthermore Chris Liebing, who has been actively involved in the mix-down of the album is giving you some background information regarding the production process of this outstanding long-player. Regarding the overall sound, Monoloc sticks to his origins and moves skillfully through sonic environments consisting of deep basses, noise, dark beats and quotes from all kinds of musical genres. The occasional vocal tracks grant “Drift” an atmospherically rich and diversified flow. Together with singer / producer Daniel Wilde, three songs have been crafted for this purpose, adding a deep and soulful dimension. Each one of the nine tracks works independently on its own, but it is the thoughtful combination that makes this album appear as more than merely the sum of its individual parts. “Drift” is a musically sophisticated, slow and in spite of all the love for details pleasantly dirty Techno album.
