The hotly tipped UK artist makes his debut for Drumcode’s vinyl only off-shoot.

Focused on showcasing cutting-edge underground techno, Adam Beyer’s always got an eye on the future when curating Drumcode Ltd. With impressive releases on Tiga’s Twin Turbo and Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains imprint, 24-year-old Billy Turner piqued his interest with his accomplished productions that belied his tender age. 

Taking inspiration from the likes of Marcel Dettmann, Truncate and Planetary Assault Systems, Turner’s four-track debut ‘Don’t Talk To Me About Style’ was birthed in his home studio throughout 2017. The industrious Brit delivers a powerful peak-time EP of nocturnal techno that moves between different moods. The title track pops with a thick grinding bassline and trippy synth effects, before ‘Escape’ envelopes you into a subterranean world. ‘Diodes’ follows, a fantastic slice of electrifying techno that bucks like a rodeo bull. The EP concludes with the blazing ‘Tunnel’, that makes its mark with deft drum arrangements and a piercing call-to-arms siren.

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. But when life gives you Dennis Apec, you sure as hell make sure that you are able to release him on your label. Because that is what happened earlier this year on the Dancefair in the Netherlands when Dennis Apec handed over his demo-usb to Pursuit.

Rob Hes had just launched his label and hosted a demo-drop at one of the largest dance-seminars for upcoming producers in the Netherlands. With much to his surprise, Dennis’ demo immediately blew Rob’s mind. The two producers stayed in touch and started sending feedback and tracks back and forth. The first release was only a matter of time.

With his first track on Wild Cards “Bring Me Home” gave us already a sneak preview of his sound, but the In My Mind EP really delivers the goods. Three solid corkers that absolutely exemplify what Pursuit represents. Strong grooves and soaring melodies. Please welcome Dennis to the family with your feedback.

And to up the exposure even more, Teenage Mutants have delivered one hell of a remix of the title track. Bringing their unique sound to the table, while keeping a close eye to the original is the perfect closer for every peak time set.

Anyone who’s encountered Ballroom Records’ output from the past while will know all too well that this is a label that doesn’t take half measures when it comes to churning out uncompromising techno. Indeed, this is particularly apparent in the output of the label owner and key protagonist, Kaiser Souzai, who marks his debut here for DJ Boris’ @transmit-recordings label courtesy of an EP that speaks volumes of his ability to consistently come up with innovative and fresh-sounding techno jams. 

"Andrins Quest" is a bass heavy track notable for its drama, suspense and build up, and is the kind of carefully construed cut that will go down a treat when the ‘floor is at its most fervent and demanding.

Giorgio Rusconi, Devid Dega - Antares (Original Mix)

Luca Agnelli’s Etruria Beat sees Italian artist Bastinov return with a fantastic full-length album entitled All Through The Night, this Autumn. Bastinov is a master-craftsmen who imbues his music with melody and spirituality. After first releasing on Etruria in 2013, his standout sound design and the richness of his synth-work has continued to catch attention from the likes of Adam Beyer, Sven Väth, Pan-Pot. Across six superb EP releases, he has subtly developed his sound and now, on this debut album, makes his most complete and coherent musical statement yet. ‘Deep Forest’ majestically opens the album, raining true to its title is like a journey through a lush organic landscape. Bubbling synths and drums get you in a trance on ‘All Through The Night’ and the range of synths on ‘Genesis’, from smooth to pixelated to thunderous, lend the techno a truly immersive feel. Bastinov then expertly explores a range of moods on suspense-fueled ‘Eternia’, over to darker and moodier on ‘Hyperion’ while ‘Dantze’ layers up scintillating cosmic keys above elongated grooves that all build and build to an intense peak. The second half of the album is just as artful, with the surging Detroit styles of ‘Evnt’ and celestial melodic rain of ‘Proteus’. The Veneti artist showcases his ability to make synths take any form as he skews and stretches them to the heavens, or breaks them into crystalline droplets on ‘Arponoid’ and ‘Elaysia’. This intense, absorbing trip finishes with ‘Der Love Train’ and ‘Devine’ a in a set of highly emotive tracks that sweep to otherworldly spaces and back again with the euphoric vocals of experimental/industrial artist KnowKontrol featuring on ‘The Silence Of The Night’.
