The Manic Brothers six track EP begins with ‘Praying Mantis’; a deep techno offering using a swelling bass line that rumbles under the track whilst the distinctive synth phrase shifts the groove of the track. ‘Voices’ huge hypnotic stabs generate a late night dub that uses sparse percussion and interesting delay effects to mesmerise the crowd. ‘Life After Life’ is a more euphoric and delicate take on techno and uses subtle percussion and melodies to create an ethereal felt track. Using a more industrial style of techno, ‘Hidden History’ includes lots of snare rolls and a stab that is infectious whilst rolling over a heavy kick drum. ‘Introduction’ is a long player and takes it time to slowly build synth melodies and stabs that morph into an unbelievable record. ‘Morning Mass’ rounds off the EP using an unusual rhythmic instrument and beautiful synth pads to create a record that leaves you wanting more.

Sam’s EP boot’s off with ‘Chocolate’, a track that builds and builds using detuned synths, stabs and funky drums to make any dance floor erupt. ‘Domino’ is a track that’s bassline drones underneath its own distinctive synth line to keep the drums rolling along steadily. The title track ‘Black Leather’ is everything you would expect in a Drumcode record; a subtle throbbing bass line which, keeps the track moving before the synth stabs enrapture the track and twist it into a dark, throbbing composition. The final track ‘Daegon’ uses dubbed out drums to incorporate a synth melody line that will blow your socks off and rounds off this well shaped EP.

Being released as a special marbled vinyl that comprises of two tracks, Alan’s original uses a large heavy kick with intricate high hat patterns that please the ear and add some funk to a heavy straight kick drum. The stabs are the main feature of the track and add a palpitating rhythm throughout before the main pad enters and packs it out. Benjamin Damage steps up to deliver an outstanding remix of Alan’s original and creates a more chuggy, brutal bludgeon. He uses Alan’s original stabs in a more aggressive manner that see’s Benjamin’s remix soar!

Timmo is a new name to Drumcode and one in which they hope to be seeing more of. Having released tracks on Fone, BluFin, Octopus and Alleanza to name a few, Timmo's production career is set to shine as his new material is getting noticed from the likes of Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Richie Hawtin, Nicole Moudaber, Len Faki, Dustin Zahn to name a few. Also launching his own highly revered radio show called 'Big Room' which,has had guests such as Robert Babicz, Umek, Fergie, Alan Fitzpatrick and many more,Timmo is a name to look out for in 2014.  Timmo's debut Drumcode release 'We Beat On' carries a flow through out that gives Timmo his own unique sound that has captured the ears of many highly revered techno DJ's around the world. Timmo uses hypnotic sounds and phrases whilst he always maintains a thumping techno beat that underlies all the tracks within this EP to maximum effect. Furthermore, there is a ghostly feel amongst Timmo's tracks that really provide him with his acquired sound, the pads in 'Canvas' are a beautiful reminder of this. Timmo also uses strong synth stabs to full effect that juxtapose against the drums to help create the tension and aggression that is present within techno.

The new Intec release from Avision is the techno alias of Anthony Cardinale, who under his birth name has featured on labels such as Toolroom and Suara. Focused towards a harder techno sound, Avision tracks have been released on Victor Calderones Matter, Mark Brooms BeardMan plus Sians Octopus. Picking up support by taste making DJs like Nicole Moudaber, Pig&Dan, Carlo Lio, Kaiserdisco, and of course Carl Cox. Based in America, Anthony Cardinale is a popular DJ in his hometown New York. Currently living in New Jersey, he has also played other American cities including Denver and Las Vegas. 

"Mind Of The Man - Intro" begins with an ambient start that progressively builds until the kick drum is unleashed to lead the track. Combining gentle synths and solid percussion this intricate slice of techno is the perfect EP opener. Lifting things up a gear, the second track "Mind Of The Man - Outro" has liquid background textures like waves laping against the shore, whilst the hypnotic lead synths build with intensity. Finishing with a descent into ambience, this is the perfect outro tool for any techno set. Third on the release is "Choppin" which used an electric vocal sample to create the core of it's rolling groove. Loopy techno with fluttering hi-hats and expert programming, this jackin' track is similar to the work of seminal artists such as Truncate and Psyk. Finishing things off, "The Other Things" has a high energy clap rhythms that combined with fast flowing hi-hats, provide the tracks driving force. Heads down techno at its best, it's dancefloor focused ferocity takes no prisoners.

Contained within this eleven-track compilation is a collection of tracks submitted to Drumcode as demos but which didn’t have other tracks to be partnered with to make up a classical Drumcode EP. Such was the quality and quantity of these stunning one-off tracks that the idea of making them into a compilation was born primarily for practical reasons. As the project grew the idea became a theme and the theme evolved into a finished project – A-Sides - which tells both the story of Drumcode’s recent past with familiarly high-octane tracks from Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Joseph Capriati, Gary Beck, Gregor Tresher and Dustin Zahn & Rachel Palmer but also gives a glance into what is to come as the likes of Patrick Siech, Luigi Madonna, Roberto Capuano, Dhillon and Manic Brothers get their chance to contribute to the shaping Drumcode’s future.

The EP starts with Mikael Jonasson’s, ‘Benefit of the Doubt’ which uses dark, melodic bleeps to create tension before the epic chord stabs kick in that resonate over the throbbing bass line. Adam Beyer steps up with the second track ‘Never Really Left Home’ that uses a rhythmic synth-line to create a dark and moody piece of music. Ida Engberg then delivers her unique style of techno using old rave sounds and a huge hoover style synth to create a driving techno track that will keep any dancefloor moving. The Manic Brother’s supply another big track named ‘Different Directions’ using reverberated stabs to create an atmospheric, but still functional track with lots of rhythmic percussion thrown in. Patrick Siech then steps up with the next track, ‘Kill Room’ that also uses atmospheric percussion and stabs to build into a funky drum groove. Joel Mull presents the sixth track on the compilation; ‘Rimson’ that uses hypnotic drums to captures the listener’s attention to lead into a floaty synth and vocal line before the track introduces a pulsating bass line. ‘Second Coming’ is the next offering with Petter B using recurrent percussion to full effect to create a purposeful, heavy hitting techno track. The final track by Cari Lekebusch called ‘Xylopeggiator’, conveys a dark, pounding 5 AM rhythm that uses vocal samples and a melodic synth to create a hypnotic drum pattern.

Drumcode storms into 2013 after releasing some superb tracks in 2012 which included celebrating their 100th release with an outstanding EP from Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg. Also releasing some exceptional tracks from artists such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Jay Lumen and Gary Beck, Joseph Capriati, Gregor Tresher, Sam Paganini, Nicole Moudaber and Ben Sims. Heading into 2013 Drumcode are keeping up the refined techno that they have displayed and are making sure that they continue to keep up this form throughout the coming year.
Roberto Capuano is a name heard before at Drumcode, releasing his debut release on the 15 year anniversary compilation with his track ‘Oblique’. Gaining support as a producer, Roberto has released on record labels such as Analytic Trail, Phobique, MKT, Monique Musique and Suara. He has gained a lot of support from Adam Beyer, Richie Hawtin, Joseph Capriati, Umek, Carl Cox and Alex Under amongst others. Roberto has also been Djing around the world at venues in Europe including the famous, “Old River Park” amongst others.
‘Vertigo’ is the A side on this four track EP by Roberto Capuano that uses reverberated kick drum’s and piano chords to create a groove that was designed for peak-time play. The second track, ‘Inversion’ uses rising and filtering synths with the use of space and influxes of pitched hi hats and percussion loops to create a 5am track that will keep people rooted to their spot. ‘New Chapter’ uses a repetitive percussion-like stab to keep the deep atmospheric sounds together over the industrial techno drums.The final track ‘Earth’ uses phased sporadic stabs to create an interesting groove that compliments the driving drums that are ever present.
