Mr McKay is back on Drumcode with an EP that is very close to home, titled ‘Glasgow Safari’. Harvey has blended his synonymous synth stabs and vocal hooks together and has created another outstanding EP. The drums are fat and chunky as always and allow Harvey’s ideas to flow effortlessly over a solid foundation. The smooth use of dynamic throughout Harvey’s tracks also create impressive drops to add to another exceptional EP from Harvey.

Victor Calderone has stepped up for his first solo release on Drumcode with his two track single, ‘Burden’. Featuring two energetic tracks, ‘Skin’ and ‘Burden’, Victor has used effected vocals to create funky rhythms over the top of some steaming kick drums. The synth stabs lend themselves well across this EP particularly in ‘Burden’ where they really augment the flow of the track. The use of percussion phrases throughout both tracks on the single also reinforces the grooves and adds character to create a distinctive sound that keeps the single fresh and exciting.

A great philosopher (Samuel Johnson, not Ebeneezer Goode) once wrote… “our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks”. While it would be a stretch to suggest the Drumcode artist roster are closet philosophy fans, once one begins to unravel the tale that led to Jel Ford remixing the 2012 Alan Fitzpatrick hit ‘For An Endless Night’ and it is impossible to escape the unexpected enterprise and spirit of surprise that are at the heart of this exciting collaboration. 

As fans of Adam Beyer’s label will testify, the two Drumcode names have more in common than just a label stable, they also share common ground with the peak-time melodic sound that has delivered many of the labels most memorable output. Ford being a much more recent addition than Fitzpatrick, whose history with the seminal Swedish imprint stretches back to 2009, however Ford’s history within techno goes back even further having released multiple EP’s through the early noughties on vintage UK techno labels including Dave Angel’s Rotation Records, Billy Nasty’s Tortured Records, Primate Recordings and Ford’s own Jericho imprint. 

It is within this shared passion for uplifting synths and big room melodies that the ‘unexpected spark’ of creativity that led to Ford remixing Fitzpatrick can be found. An long-time admirer of Fitzpatrick’s work, Ford had developed an idea for his alternative version and secretly worked on the remix long before any discussion of the project had taken place. Once given the draft version, Fitzpatrick immediately endorsed the remix, excited to have an updated version to breath new life into what had become a familiar staple of his sets for the past two years. Parts were swapped and the end result being the barnstorming end-of-night monster presented here. A track that will be familiar with many having been the subject of much social-media furor since it first surfaced back in Autumn 2014.

The Drumcode A-Sides compilation is quickly becoming synonymous within the techno world as a go to compilation for the hottest tracks that are deservedly A-side material in their own right. Each specific track has it own unique character that brings an outstanding and electrifying aspect to the compilation that as a whole makes it something extremely special. Mixing both highly experienced and new artists has helped to bring a new dimension to the compilation that makes it such a special array of tracks.

Spektre (Drumcode / Respekt), one of Britain's hottest techno duos, attacks the techno World with an unprecedented single! 'Without Warning' is Spektre's case study on today's Techno. Uncommon, speedy, dark and above all, trippy, it is a track that rewrites the rules on how a proper track should be. Melancholic and dark, but precise and crisp at the same time -a typical Spektre characterstic- 'Without Warning' is composed upon the concept of making a difference. Huge bass pads bring out melodies that move and travel the audience while on the same time spacey strings and groovy drum patterns generate the antithesis that makes the energy circulate in this excellent track's veins. Thomas Schumacher's (Drumcode / Noir) approach is manifested upon pure energy. Advanced engineering and authentic inspiration meet, to create a perfectly blended dark-as-the-gates-of-the-underworld killer groove and fresh rhythmical elements, all mixed along to forge a track destined to stir bedrocks and definitely question their structural rigidity! D-Deck (Alleanza / Phobiq) inserts his life experience in music-making into his remix and totally transforms the track, generating a new existence. This is a 4 AM track, definitely made to move large crowds. Rigorous and stern, yet driving and melodic, it's based on a solid drum pattern that concludes to an epic buildup where all melodic elements join the harmony and add their own perspective to end-up in a huge drop. Omis (Italy) - Inside The Mind

Codex Recordings is a Spanish based techno label headed up by Ukranian artist Spartaque who features a remix on this new release by Germany's Thomas Hoffknecht. Also on the EP is a remix from Canadian artist D-Unity who completes this impressive package.

Thomas Hoffknecht has also contributed tracks to other heavyweight labels such as Sleaze (UK), KD RAW and Second State before making his debut on Codex Recordings.

Label owner Spartaque is an equally accomplished producer who's prestigious back catalogue includes Terminal M, Tronic and OFF Recordings for example.

D-Unity heads up the highly respected Unity Records and along with many releases on his own label has also made numerous releases on many of techno's best known labels ranging from Intec to Suara.

The twisted synths of "Robot Ride" open the EP with pulsating rhythms layered over tough percussion. Things get dark with the hypnotic melody and punishing claps of "Waves" before the remixes close things off in peak time fashion.

Beico & MT93 are back on Unrilis with a new four-track EP in the style they have previously championed on other labels such as Terminal M, Respekt, Kraftek and Suara.

The Argentinian duo’s last release on Unrilis picked up support from artists ranging from Adam Beyer to Slam, and this one is a much anticipated follow up.

Opening the EP is “Reflection Intro” which ramps up the tension with slow-building synths and dramatic bass stabs. The original mix of “Reflection” is next on the EP with its rattling hi-hats and pounding kick drum fused with the namesake vocal sample.

Second of the original cuts is “Tenebrous” that combines a flickering lead synth with explosive tom drums and thrashing off-beat hats. “Real Faces” closes the EP with its pulsating bass synth overplayed with bursts of euphoria perfect for maximum dance floor impact.
