Singer-songwriter Grayson Hugh wrote his song  "Angels On My Side" after having a dream about his Welsh grandfather Ralph Pugh (Pictured above, with  his original surname before he changed it to Hugh after immigrating to the States). "I was very close to my father's father, who I called Papa. He was a big tall Welshman with a deep voice and he always encouraged me in whatever I did. One night I went to sleep worried about everything: money, love, my musical career, the whole show. I dreamed Papa told me "not to worry, Grayson, as long as you keep following your heart and working hard, everything will be just fine. I woke up with tears on my face, and wrote this song."

Angels On My Side

Original instrumental composition mostly in 15/8 time with a 4/4 solo section written by Rich Tortorigi drummer, re-arrangement by Grayson Hugh.  Due to social distancing during covid the sheet music was emailed to each the instrumentalists and their parts were recorded in wav & or mp3 files. Hats off to Tapeworks Hartford CT Chief engineer Bill Ahearn who then compiled all the many tracks submitted on into his studio set up. The drums were the only thing recorded live in the studio. This procedure is much easier said than done! Not our favorite way of doing things. Live has energy ebb & flow, Click track doesn't. Much Gratitude and thanks to my good friends who I have had the pleasure of playing with live in the past, Grayson Hugh keyboards, Lucian Williams guitar, Dave Daddario bass, Polina Nazayakinskaya violin, viola.
Note I wrote this tune in 1972 while attending Berklee College of Music This recording is 50 years in the making.
