If you haven’t worked out by now, I am a bit obsessive over Rupert Parkes’ AKA Photek’s early works in the first half of the 90s.
Some of his most elusive and hardcore drum and bass productions were not under the Photek moniker but recorded under a series of different names.

In this mix we feature probably his rarest and darkest works, under the guises of System X and The Truper.

Rupture with Mantra & Decibella - 13 February 2023

Part two of the EXPEDIT:IONS series, a dig through the classic Ikea vinyl shelving unit, is a journey through the work of one of my favourite producers; Paradox.

Dev Pandya, aka Paradox aka Alaska is one of the most prolific and consistent producers within the drum and bass scene. Over the last 20+ years he has worked alongside artists such as Nucleus, Seba and DJ Trax on pretty much every prestigious record label there is in jungle. Metalheadz, Moving Shadow, Good Looking, Reinforced; you name it.

There are perhaps three sides to Paradox. The all out drumfunk side, the dark amen tear outs, and the more atmospheric side of Alaska - All three sounds can be found in this selection.

As I was digging through the shelves it reminded me of the sheer number of Paradox records I own. He put out an incredible amount of music on his own labels, Paradox Music, Outsider, and Esoteric in the 2000s. It was hard work picking out these 18, but these are perhaps my most played over the years and to me represent what Paradox is all about.

November is officially our birthday month so we're kicking off the celebrations with this mix recorded live from our 16th Birthday at Corsica Studios. It's the early hours of Sunday morning, Tim Reaper & Mantra step up at 5.30am, room 1 is heaving, Moose, Blackeye and Double O are vibing! It's raw, uncut, raggo but totally captures what the last set at Rupture is all about. We were unsure whether to put this up as it's a bit distorted in parts but we hope you bare with us and can hear past the snap crackle and pop and enjoy the beautiful sounds of 94/95 jungle played on vinyl.
