Our dear friend Ludovic Erhel passed on May 23, 2016.  Everyone who knew him is feeling a tremendous loss.  It is amazing to see how many people loved Ludo with such a great intensity..   I wonder if he knew.  I offer this piece of improvised music, a humble portrait of our friend in sound.  The melody chants his name over and over...  RIP Ludo.  À tout à l'heure mon ami..

This is an excerpt from a very special performance, the last 20 minutes of a 24-hour long improvisation that Pete performed live at Sculpture Center in NYC..  WIRE magazine reviewer Alan Licht wrote, "...In as much as free improvisation can be a real-time, stream of consciousness expression, Drungle's epic event pushed it well beyond the limits usually imposed by the customary concert timetable; that he was still functioning at a high level of creativity after 23 hours pays new testimony to the improvisational mindset. Drungle contributed the truest experiment in concert as performance art that PERFORMA 07 had to offer."

NON’S THEME was composed on a beat-up, old grand piano in the back room of old theatre in Cardiff, Wales - and was later expanded into NON’S THEME ORCHESTRAL.  The piece is a rigorous exploration of the 10/8 meter, as well as poly-rhythm (various parts throughout make subtle use of 5:4, 5:3, 5:2, 7:5, and 8:5), re-harmonization and thematic re-contextualization.  The intention was to create an climactic variation of the original Non's Theme; and to present epic, sweeping themes that embody a "universal sentiment" without relying on cliché.
