Dutch producer and DJ Reinier Zonneveld is racking up accolades about as fast as new fans are losing their shit to his far reaching beats. Having already released on Richie Hawtin’s Minus label and the ever-influential Traum Schalplatten, Zonneveld’s latest, an EP titled Rushchamber, is out on the increasingly important Stil Vor Talent, an imprint run by tastemaker Oliver Koletzki.

The 3-track EP captures the variation Zonneveld is known for and kicks off with “Sharp Bust,” a careening, pure techno number with detuned horns and whirring rushes. The titular track 2, “Rushchamber,” weaves in groovier house influences in the beat, and “Flatchat” levels off somewhere in the middle. The collection reflects the wide palate that Zonneveld, who was raised on classical music, brings to the studio.

Taking the release-portfolio into account, Rampa built over the last years on Keinemusik, him adding a new EP to the labels catalogue is worth every credit of trust. And this very “Trust” EP is living up to that not only by its name. It certainly offers value for money, considering KM-releases have mostly been two-trackers. There are four cuts on this one, each one following a different approach, making it also a hella versatile record.

It opens with the titeltrack, the floor-mantra within this bunch. A ruminant groove, backed by lifting and dropping notes, launching a catchy synth-figure and adding up synth-layers until all tension drops into a break that’s as curative as a talk therapy. A track that, out of unshakable serenity, unleashes an irresistible energy.

The following “Entropie” comes closest to what could be considered a Rampa classic. Percussive loops that are scooped up with even more banging and clanking – check. Lurking synthbass in the back – check. Vocalsamples with tribal descent – double check. Generally, you’ll find a whole lot of folklore in this rhythm rich affair, that continuously is jazzing up to highest ecstasy levels.

The flipside opens with “Defiled”, led by a prominent synthline, that’s going through various filter highs and lows and gets bludgeoned by some vigorously swung claps. Raw, naked floor material lacking any flourish, that seems to even fire up a jackhammer during the break.

“Headsup” is concluding this set. Triggering the smell of watered sidewalks, lit-up only by flickering neon light, immersed in the depths of delay, this latenight-story finds some redemption and warmth within the glow of its soulful vocal samples.

Gel Set is the solo project from multimedia artist, Laura Callier. 

'Body Copy' is an album of psychedelic electro. Laura's softly spoken, trance like vocals are accompanied by experimental bedroom production which includes a number of film samples and sound effects.

Having been compared to Chris and Cosey - she is influenced by Karen Dalton's raw emotion, the abstract storytelling and dissonance of late Scott Walker, the synthesis of Mort Garson and Tangerine Dream and the heavy sounds of Hogg.

The record was born after a move from Chicago to LA to pursue sound design and post production. Callier came to find loneliness in this overpopulated city, searching for familiar faces at shows, stores, sidewalks. Strangers looked like variants of loved ones which helped Gel Set come to the realization that the world is full of body copies.

“Less thought, more direction and purpose, less catering, more expression…” This was @savile 's mantra as he sculpted his ‘Compersion’ EP for 2MR and it’s a mantra we should all subscribe to. It’s come about through his introspective analysis during the creation of his most succinct and starkest exploration date.

“’Compersion’ is a record about wrestling my own beliefs, both personal and political. It’s about experiencing the anxiety and absurdity of loving a partner and ultimately myself. The sounds, tempos and arrangements found here are the result of further experiments with editing tracks to their absolute minimum. I tried to work these songs like I am working on me. Less thought, more direction and purpose, less catering, more expression.” And more detail; throughout every stripped back heavily-edited sensation the conceptual EP provides, the meaning and message is palpable. Each track title inspired by Jenny Holzer and Helmut Lang’s revolutionary provocative, sexualisation of the art space in Florence Biennale, 1996, there’s a tangible physicality felt throughout…

The heavy breathing rhythmic elements of the electroid ‘Talk Smile Bite’ and its bedrock bedspring funk; the playful switch between breezy broken beats and driving techno coupled with minimal sample craft and literal message of an instantly recognisable vocal on ‘Watch Scan Wait’; the much heavier, intense techno pressure of ‘Tease Breathe Smell’ where the heart is on the sleeve and it’s palpitating wildly with direction, purpose and true expression.

A smart concept from a Smart resident, Savile has achieved something special here; a provocative model a deep self-construction and, above all, three damn fine pieces of techno.

Berlin/Barcelona based OFF Recordings is run by Andre Crom, focusing its sound to different shades of techno. In the past 2 years, the label has featured the likes of Charlotte de Witte, Cari Lekebusch, Luca Agnelli, TWR72 and a selection of other well-known and emerging artists. The previous OFF Recordings release from DEAS picked up feedback and support from the likes of Slam, Pan-Pot, Adam Beyer, Cristian Varela and Amelie Lens. This new release is from German born Arnd Reichow aka Drumcomplex, who recently contributed a remix to Man With No Shadow's EP for OFF Recordings. Drumcomplex makes a welcome return with his debut solo release of original music, where his back catalogue also includes contributions to Carl Cox's Intec, Traum, Bush, and his own Complexed Records. Track one “Eyesight” has a rolling groove with a mechanical percussion sequence made with military precision. Dark and pounding, vocal stabs washed in delay bounce round the mix creating an impression of vast open space, whilst the lead synths adds a tense sense of urgency to this techno stomper. The second track “Definition” opens with fast flowing hi-hats and the thud of the kick drum before introducing the menacing tones of the arpeggiated lead synth, which alongside the sinister vocals, gives the track a fearsome atmosphere. Not for the faint-hearted, this brutal cut of techno is a certified dancefloor smasher made for peak time club sets. Finishing the release is “Complex” which has epic synths that full of texture, paint pictures of dystopian landscapes. Understated and intelligent this is the deepest track on the EP, but anything it lacks in ferocity is compensated by its mysterious atmosphere and intricate production, which at times is almost cinematic.

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead whos legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell.

A German living in Portugal, the new Intec release is from Sidney Charles who has only been releasing music since 2011, but in that time built up a back catalogue including music signed to Truesoul, Moon Harbour, Hot Creations, Relief, 8Bit and Defected.

Sidney Charles eclectic sound is often focused towards house music, but as a skilled producer, he also incorporated elements of techno when he wants to toughen things up a bit, and his new release on Intec is a fine example of this.

Having originally started his career as a DJ, Sidney Charles is also a highly sought after club spinner, with a gig list that in the coming months will see him play everywhere from the Netherlands to Malta.

This is Sidney's second solo release on Intec having last appeared on the label in 2016, and fans will be pleased to know his follow up has been well worth the wait.

The EP opens with the original mix of Get Together that at first sounds like a house groove with a rolling bassline and tight percussion, but its heavy kick drum and looping rhythms along with the deep synth stabs, move it over to the deep techno category. The perfect crossover tool, its moody sound and low end energy will no doubt make it a popular DJs choice for switching up the style of a set.

Second on the release is Dub Trap, which takes us down a deeper path with jazzy chords that add to the jacking groove. Where the first track incorporates elements of techno, this track is very much the sound Sidney Charles is known for. Chic and full of character, this tech house cut is something that some might not expect from Intec, but reminds us of Carl Cox's eclectic taste when it comes to playing and signing music.

Exclusive Enzo Elia & Odd1 'Dirty Hotel'

For his latest EP 'Connecting the Dots' Enzo Elia teams up with three befriended artists - one for each of the tracks that are featured on the EP. 'Dirty Hotel', the first take of the three tracker, was produced with Engrave Ltd co-label founder Dodi Palese under his Odd1 moniker. Beside the fact that you can feel the friendship bound over the whole 8 minutes and 2 seconds lasting track the duo created a 'monster', in the most positive way, that pushes its listeners to the boundaries of melodic electronic music. 'Dirty Hotel' builds up the tension with its very first beat before spheric synth pads are added that in the course of the track are accompanied by strings. All soundscapes combined eagerly wait to enfold their full potential to twirl and curl but lead to a xylophone solo before the synth chords blow up and finish what Enzo and Dodi started with the first beat: a melodic master piece.

@come-and-hell is an electronic duo, consisting of Mariana Perrelli and João Komka. They are long-time friends and played together for the very first time in 2012, at 5uinto, their traditional electronic night in Brasilia, which both are residents.

They are known for a string of quality releases, most notably their collaborations with Gui Boratto, Victor Ruiz and Xenia Beliayeva.

DRUNKEN KONG is the project of D. Singh and DJ Kyoko. In 2010, the two started their project when one day, they
suddenly decided to make a track together. Since then they have released two albums on Christian Smith's label Tronic, The Signs Within (2017) and Where We Start (2020) as well as numerous EPs and singles on labels such as Octopus Recordings, Stil Vor Talent and
Terminal M while they remain active with domestic labels such as Session WOMB. All 7 tracks of their EPs in early 2017 on Tronic and Terminal M have entered Beatport Top 100 Techno chart at the same time, which has made an impact on the Asian and global techno scene. 

Since then, their music has been constantly entering top charts. Their music is gaining a lot of attention/support from
international top artists and DJs such as Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Christian Smith, Monika Kruse, Pan-Pot, Umek, Hernan Cattaneo and Deadmau5, just to name a few. Their release “Repeat” from Octopus Recordings have entered Beatport Techno Top 10, being supported and played by many artists around the globe.

DRUNKEN KONG has always been active in the Tokyo techno scene, playing regularly at major festivals such as Ultra Japan and in clubs such as WOMB, Ageha, Unit, Vent, Contact and Vision Tokyo. The two are constantly attracting new fans with their unique sound and groove. With their powerful DJ style and charisma, the two are able to constantly amuse the audience while expanding their ideas and skills to the next level.
