LA Johnson and Baddesley are at it again, this time with a back to back edition for the August and September promomix! Hailing from Birmingham, UK, Skutta Records have been going strong for 10 years, gracing the jungletrain.net airwaves with their instantly recognizable selection for the past 6.

For this diptych, Baddesley takes the lead with a freestyle mix, a selection spanning the last decade in the Skutta corner of drum and bass. The mix takes off with some lighter, longing, mellow beats, gliding off that slippery slope towards darker realms, stopping short of that moment where the amens would begin, were it not for time running out!

Baddesley likes to add that when recording a mix, he likes to go for a progression the way a good club night should, but compressed to 80 minutes. So push back your chair, close your eyes and dance like there's no tomorrow!

Baddesley - jungletrain.net promomix august 2020

In February 2018 she made her full debut into Jungle/Drum and Bass and was invited onto Kool London as DJ Rieo Sky's Super Sunday Music 4 Life Show as a special V.I.P guest. She then earned guest spots on Origin UK and Four Aces Radio. By July 2018, Dark Pheonix had earned a place on the mighty Kool London with a bi-weekly show on Tuesdays. 
This was followed shortly by her first booking in August of that year at Jungle Splash. 
Her hard work on radio, from cover shows to shows lasting 4-9 hours and her clear passion, along with her mixing, blending and selection is what sets her apart from many others out there.

Episode 405 brings us an all vinyl mix from DJ Psyche!

Psyche's mix draws you in from the get with a tune that features a lush break, that morphs into a wicked, upfront stepper! Psyche keeps the energy rolling with heavy, heavy tracks! The set slides into a fave Ed Rush/Optical tune, Socom, have not heard that one in a minute, not long after we're given a dose of amen pressure! The amen pressure gives way to some smooth rollers, make sure you check that Calibre remix of Put that Woman First, absolute perfection! Psyche's mix is a carefully crafted, eclectic display of the various flavors of DNB, this mix is one for the Headz!!


Let's meet the selektah for episode 405, DJ Psyche:
Early influences into in the rave scene came from listening to pirate radio back in 1992 and The Prodigy Experience album.  The first time hearing tunes on a big rig was in 1993 at an under 18s event called Teen Rage.  Hearing and feeling the tunes on a big rig got me from age 16 attending an all nighter at Orange at Hippodrome summer of 94 and Labyrinth events, which Nicky Blackmarket supplied me guest list tickets for.  From there I started attending various London raves regularly. 
The record collecting started in 1994 with the Undercover Agent 007 EP on Formation Records.  Since then a vast amount of vinyl has been purchased until today.  Vinyl remains my favourite format to mix with.  Blackmarket Records was visited on the most regular basis.  However I also used to purchase records from Unity, Section 5, Vinyl Mania and Camden Market.  
Whilst living in Bristol early 00s was resident on Rotation at Rubiks Records night.  Also guest sets at other nights at venues including Lakota and Dojo Lounge.
Played on LifeFM between 2004-2005 doing B2B sets with Data and MC Contact.
2005 Collaboration released Zen & Psyche – Dub Specialist (Zombie Records).  The track featured on Andy C’s Essential Mix and DJ Hype’s Drum & Bass Essentials compilation album.
After a bit of a break from the scene started playing on DreamFMUK.com from 2014. 
 In the last couple of years played at Distant Planet @ The Sovereign, The Jungle_List – Pressure, The Dirty Dozen & Format Music DnB @ The Castle and Strategy & Spectral Breaks @ Volks, Brighton.

Let's meet our dj for episode 408, FX909:
Hailing from cultural hub PARIS, FRANCE, FX909 began as a TECHNO DJ in the mid-1990s, Alex became one of the leaders of the FRENCH D+B scene at the beginning of the new millennium in 2000.
In 2004, he signed to the legendary BRITISH imprint DEFUNKED, propelling his brand of LIQUID FUNK upon the international scene. He released more than fifty productions and collaborated with the likes of ALIX PEREZ, EGO TRIPPIN, GREG PACKER, MATHEMATICS, PAUL SG, and STUNNA, to name a few. The year 2010 saw Alex put his DRUM+BASS productions as FX909 into hibernation.
Fast forward to 2019, and ALEX has resumed his FX909 production moniker. Unveiling a flurry of new releases to mark a successful return to the liquid DnB scene throughout the end of the year 2019 with INFLUENZA MEDIA, LIQUID DROPS, TRIBE OF DUB, and a full length album, 'UNDEFINED' on SOUL DEEP RECORDINGS imprint.
In 2020, FX909 become a label owner with the birth of FX909 MUSIC and continues to spread his music with the help of FOKUZ, SUPERLIT, JAZZSTICKS, CELSIUS, LIQUID LAB, SMOOTH N GROOVE, LIQUID FLAVOURS, WEAPONS OF CHOICE, AMPHIBIOUS AUDIO, OMNI MUSIC UK and KOS.MOS among others.
