Jad & The sends off the Ladyboy (he's fka Jad & The Ladyboy) and has a Going Away Party to celebrate. The party starts off with some Sad Cries (it’s always sad saying goodbye), then the Yeah Band starts playing to take peoples' minds off their sadness. After their afrocentric set, the guy who always has the Discogs window open and 45 adapters in his pockets jumps up and plays a Disco Dancefloor Tool designed to tease but please. Now that everyone's warmed up and ready for it, the next DJ drops some Underground Real Shit which even gets a nod from the high-brow DJ squad in the corner. The twelve people there lose their shit. Great night had by all.

Elegy. Electronic. Elephant. Ele is back with its 5th serving and it is a big one! A young label known for its dusty jazz samples and superb deep house releases is coming strong this September, with the ELE 005 EP, courtesy of house music legend: Cottam. Following the triumph of their last collaboration ELE 001 - Cottam Edits it only seems right! Get ready for some more beautifully enchanting music. The first track ‘Love Affair’ is a floor-filler and ready-made disco classic. The second ‘Jigsaw” is an alluring deep dark bassy one. The tracks on the record are signature Cottam brilliance with pristine touches, sample-heavy cuts and David Mancuso-esque editing. Each track is made with love, passion and true feeling. 

First track, ‘Love Affair' will have you spinning around in a disco fueled haze with its uplifting groovy sounds. Using the same techniques of editing and mixing as the great Larry Levan, Cottam has crafted another floor-filler for dancers everywhere. As a craftsman who never does anything by half-measures, Cottam digs deep to find 70s disco jams from Constellation Orchestra and moulds the track into his own new funky vibe that is a true hit! Balancing his own hectic life as a father, this track touches the hearts of listeners fighting their own struggles and was made for anybody in need of momentary bliss.

Whether the Preston producer is building a happy-go-lucky feel-good track or a dark alluring afro beat spectacle, his music is filled with spirit and vitality and to celebrate the release of ELE 005: Cottam Edits 2 we interviewed the enigmatic sampling guru! Read the full interview inside.

New year, new you, new crew! Another rising star from France, Marina Trench, joins the WOLF Music family, following up an inaugural EP on DJ Deep's highly acclaimed Deeply Rooted with this accomplished and diverse four tracker of house goodness.

Absorbed by house music from an early age Marina Trench is already proving herself to be a humble, yet highly talented, force to be reckoned with. Waterside EP is case in point. The title track is summertime ecstasy through and through. Undeniably catchy and packed with a club-ready punch, Trench sets off at pace, revolving the track around a pinging techy bassline as layers of percussion, echoing pads and delicate vocal refrains from Marina herself glide on through. Peak time, earworm business that bangs.

Get up, ‘Get In’. Moving through the downright ethereal to some tough, dancefloor darkness. Sweeping pads and glitching arps ease you in before the breakdown leads to an unleashing of brooding bass chords and reverberating top end counterparts that marry with a mean acid bassline. Tough, tactile and firmly focused on the club.

On the flip, ‘Train Call’ is a chopped jazzy deep house roller. Heavyweight piano stabs intertwine with deft twinkles as crisp hats dance around thumping kicks before ‘Straight’ eases you off into the depths of the night. A sumptuous little slice of deepness - meditative, trance-like calls from the ocean and pensive pianos provide a perfect soundtrack for the early hours.
