In 1990, Frankie Bones opened “Groove Records,” a techno outpost deep in Brooklyn. Adam X soon became a co-owner and by 1995 the shop was relocated to Manhattan, with Heather Heart rounding out the trio. The new shop was called “Sonic Groove” and it quickly became ground zero for techno in New York City. There was nothing like it in the area at the time or, arguably, anywhere in America.

Sonic Groove was 110% dedicated to techno, a genre that was just past its infancy and exploding worldwide. A community emerged around the shop and thus the label was spawned.

Adam X had an agenda from the very beginning as label curator (and eventually sole owner): to release some of the most forward thinking underground techno music around. Realizing that goal was no easy feat, considering the volume of records being released at the time in a fast-paced and growing scene.

Fast-forward 25 years. Adam X and Sonic Groove are still at the forefront of modern underground techno, sticking to the same ethos and pushing the envelope further into the future. The faces and sounds may have changed, but the label has kept true to the vision. In an era now dominated by image, style, and trivial content, Sonic Groove continues its mission of putting the music first and foremost.

Now in celebration of 25 years, Sonic Groove releases a muscular 12 song compilation of  previously unreleased music comprised from the label's current artist roster.  A testament to techno's ever evolving sound and serves as a modern document showcasing the path Sonic Groove has taken and where it has led to, proving that as time passes, there is still room for creativity and innovation in the genre as demonstrated throughout these 12 tracks.

“Everybody leaves a trace after experiencing life and, in my case, what will remain is music” With this reflection, Sebastian Lopez, also known in the electronic music scene as Flug, starts his own label Existentia. Flug’s new label is an in-depth project that the Argentinian artist has been developing for a long time and finally comes to its birth, commencing its own path. Expect releases from his own and also regularly diverse VA from renowned and newcomers artists. 

After more than fifteen years working as a DJ and producer, Barcelona based Flug has been releasing music in the most relevant electronic music labels, surpassing the encapsulated techno genre and embracing a much wider musical perspective. Existentia’s label might be the sum up of his trajectory, always characterized by a profound commitment to creating and playing outstanding music and a devoted passion for his profession. You’re more than welcome to enjoy, listen and play Existentia’s very first release: Body Tales. 

"Body Tales" EP comes with 4 tracks, each one unique on its approach to techno and beyond. It starts with "Electronic Mesures": a timeless, melodic and memorable electro track that enforces positive and strong energy. It could be, just freeing imagination, an epic closing track after an all night long powerful set. "Body Tales" a timeless track that gives name to Existentia’s first release, delivers suspense and an engaging rhythm: refined drummy techno to non stop dancing. "Time Shift" goes deeper and faster: it’s cleverly built to make your body move and your mind depart into an introspective voyage. Progression is an arid and hectic tune, but without excesses, delivering a thinking-forward dancefloor track to be played when the crowd is needing intensity.

Gookbo (國寶), the Davotab's regular compilation album, has reached its 4th year. This album has become a must-release once a year, and is as important as the their own festival, Jonnafe, held every year at Davotab. Besides, the last Gookbo album released last year was nominated for the Korean Popular Music Awards and it gave them a lot of pressure on the completion of the new. Davotab has held a release party every year, but unfortunately the release party this year is uncertain due to Covid19 pandemic. However, no one can stop their passion for music.

There have also been many changes. In the previous album, it was a work with various genres and local artists. However, it ends with a pure techno album by local and foreign artists, as if showing the unique colors of Davotab that became more clear as time passed.

This powerful techno album with 10 tracks is produced by artists who have released single and EP albums on Davotab. They carefully discussed the production of new tracks and completed them one by one with many corrections. All the songs are from different artists, but they reflect the character and effort to compose the story to become one.

The album that was supposed to be released this summer was delayed to winter due to long preparations, but they want to show the evolution of Davotab. In particular, the mastering studio 'Giant Village' run by Davotab artist, Pierre Blanche, is in charge of mastering the entire album, giving a sense of unity in the sound color.

'Bagagee Viphex13', 'Pierre Blanche', 'Bizzy Meister', 'Ten Tech', 'Dzhura', 'Neither Nor', 'Dela (USA), Redraft Memories', 'Zomdol', 'KPEN', 'Jason Orfan, Fonsekas', these 10 artists have been actively working in the Covid19 Pandemic, and now they want to reveal the results to the world.

47 celebrates 5 years of forward thinking techno with a 12 track various artist compilation entitled 5Y. The triple vinyl release features several early label contributors such as Headless Horseman as well as recent regulars Swarm Intelligence and Scalameriya, plus new additions to the roster, EKORS and NN. The V/A also sees the return of Overlook and Positive Center’s alias, Carrier, as well as a collaboration between Ancient Methods and 47 label head, Tommy Four Seven.
