What Is The Formula For A Good Life   Ustad Wahaj Tarin

Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, "When a person suffices from a calamity and utters:

إنَّا للـهِ وإنَّا إلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيْبَتي، وأخْلِفْ لِي خَيْراً مِنْهَا

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un. Allahumma-jurni fi musibati, wakhlif li khairan minha

(We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah! Compensate me in my affliction, recompense my loss and give me something better in exchange for it)

then Allah surely compensates him with reward and better substitute.”

Also narrated with the following words in Tirmidhi: “When one of you is afflicted with a calamity, he should say: 

إنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ اللَّهُمَّ عِنْدَكَ أَحْتَسِبُ مُصِيبَتِي فَآجِرْنِي فِيهَا وَأَبْدِلْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا
Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un, Allahumma Indaka Ahtasibu Musibati Fa'jirni Fiha Wa Abdil li Khairan Minha

(We belong to Allah, and to Him we do return. O Allah, I seek reward with You for my affliction, so reward me for it, and replace it for me with something better)

Al-Muṭṭalib reported that Umm Salamah narrated: On an occasion Abū Salamah came back after he was with Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ and said, “I heard Allāh’s Messenger recite a statement that made me delighted.”

He said, “No Muslim is struck with an affliction and then says istirja’ (saying: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiʿūn” [from Allāh we come and to Him we will return]) when the affliction strikes, and then he says, ‘O Allāh! reward me for my loss and give me what is better than it’, except that Allāh will do that for him.”

Umm Salamah said: So I memorized these words. When Abū Salamah died I said istirja’ and said: “O Allāh, compensate me for my loss and give me what is better than it.”

I then thought about it and said, “Who is better than Abū Salamah?”

When my ʿiddah finished, Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ asked for permission to see me while I was dyeing a skin that I had. I washed my hands, gave him permission to enter and handed him a pillow, and he sat on it. He then asked me for marriage and when he finished his speech.

I said, “O Messenger of Allāh! It is not that I do not want you, but I am very jealous and I fear that you might experience some wrong mannerism from me for which Allāh would punish me. And I am old and have ʿiyāl (children).”

He (ﷺ) then said, “As for the jealousy that you mentioned, Allāh the Exalted will remove it from you. As for being old as you mentioned, I have suffered what you have suffered. And as for what what you mentioned of having children, then verily your children are my children.”

She said, “I have submitted to Allāh’s Messenger.”

Allāh’s Messenger married her.

And Umm Salamah said later, “Allāh compensated me for Abū Salamah with someone better than him: the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.”

DUA WHEN IN AFFLICTION OR CALAMITY AND ASKING ALLAH FOR BETTER THAN WHAT WAS LOST

MUSLIMS TODAY COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THIS ( Speaker: Wahaj Tarin )

A SUPERIOR DUA FOR SEEKING FORGIVENESS FROM ALLAH

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who says

أسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ العَظِيمَ الَّذِي لاَ إلَهَ إلاَّ هُوَ، الحَيُّ القَيُّومُ، وَأتُوبُ إلَيهِ
Or
‏أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَىُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

Astaghfirullaahal-'Adheemal-lathee laa 'ilaaha 'illaa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyoomu wa 'atoobu 'ilayhi.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, Whom there is none worthy of worship except Him, the Living, the Eternal, and I repent to Him

'his sins will be forgiven even if he should have run away from the battlefield (while he was engaged in fighting for the Cause of Allah).”

Narration of Abu Dawood is without Adheem (The Mighty), so both wordings can be said.

[Abu Dawood 2/85 No. 1517, Ibn Saad, 7/66, and Tabarani, 5/89, No. 4670, Ibn Abu Shaybah, 10/299 and At-Tirmithi 5/569 No. 3577, and Al-Hakim who declared it authentic and Adh-Dhahabi agreed with him 1/511. Al-Albani graded it authentic in Sahih At-Tirmithi 3/182. See also Jami'ul-'Usool li-'Ahdaith Ar-Rasool 4/ 389-90 checked by Al-Arna'ut]

[And the stress on repeating it three times, it is weak as mentioned by Shaykh al-Albaani in his series of weak narrations.]
