ASKING FOR WELL-BEING AND SEEKING PROTECTION FROM HARMS

Abū Bakrah (رضي الله عنه) reported that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) repeat three times in the morning and in the evening:

اللَّهُمَّ عَافِـني فِي بَدَنِي، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِـنِي فِي سَمْعِي، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي، لَا إِلَهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُبِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْر، وَالفَقْرِ، وَأَعُوذُبِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، لَا إلَهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ

Allaahumma ‘aafinee fee badanee, Allaahumma ‘aafinee fee sam’ee, Allaahumma ‘aafinee fee basaree, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa ‘Anta. Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-kufri, walfaqri, wa ‘a’oothu bika min ‘athaabil-qabri, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa ‘Anta.

O Allah, make me healthy in my body. O Allah, preserve for me my hearing. O Allah, preserve for me my sight. There is none worthy of worship but You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is none worthy of worship but You.

DUA TO MEND RELATIONSHIPS, BLESSINGS IN LIFE, FORGIVENESS, PROTECTION FROM OBSCENITIES

It is related that Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) used to use these supplications a lot:

اللَّهُمَّ أَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِنَا، وَأَصْلِحْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِنَا، وَاهْدِنَا سُبُلَ السَّلَامِ، وَنَجِّنَا مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ، وَجَنِّبْنَا الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ، وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي أَسْمَاعِنَا، وَأَبْصَارِنَا، وَقُلُوبِنَا، وَأَزْوَاجِنَا، وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا، وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ، وَاجْعَلْنَا شَاكِرِينَ لِنِعْمِكَ مُثْنِينَ بِهَا عَلَيْكَ، قَابِلِينَ لَهَا، وَأَتِمِمْهَا عَلَيْنَا

Allahumma allif baina qulubina, wa aslih dhata bainina, wahdina subulas-salam, wa-najjina minad-dhulumati ilan-noor, wa jannibnal-fawahisha ma dhahara minha wa-ma batana, wa barik lana fi asmaina, wa absarina, wa qulubina, wa azwajina, wa dhurriyyatina, wa tub ‘alaina innaka anta-Tawwabur-Rahim, wa-j’alna shaakireena lini’mik muthneena biha ’alaik, qaabi-lina laha, wa ati-mimha ’alaina

O Allah! Reconcile our hearts, amend what is between us, guide us to the paths of peace, save us from the darkness [and admit us] to light, and save us from obscenities, inwardly or outwardly, and bless our hearing, seeing, hearts, spouses and offspring. And accept our repentance, indeed You are the Ever Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful, and make us thankful for Your favors. All praise is due to You. Accept our good deeds and complete them for us.

[Abu Dawood No. 969, Al-Hakim No. 977 - who said: "It is Sahih according to the conditions of Muslim," and Adh Dhahabi agreed 1/265, Ibn Hibban, 3/277 No. 996, and with similar wording in Al-Adab al-Mufrad p. 122, Musnad al-Bazzar, 5/153, at-Tabarani 10/191, No. 10426, Abu Nu'aym in Al-Hilyah 4/110, and al-Albani said in Sahih al-Adab al-Mufrad, No. 630: ‘Sahih’]

*DUA FOR INCREASE IN KNOWLEDGE*

*رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًا*

Rabbi zidni ilma

_O my Lord! Advance me in Knowledge_

[Surah Ta-Ha; 20:114]

*Importance of seeking knowledge:*

Al-Hafidh Ibn Hajr al-Assqalani (d.852 A.H.) - _Rahimullaah_- said:

‘Regarding the statement: ‘The saying of Allaah Azza wa Jal:

This is a clear proof of the Excellence of knowledge. *This is because Allaah Ta’ala did not order the Messenger - _sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam_- with request for increase in anything except for an increase in knowledge.’*

_“If Allah wants to favor someone, He grants him comprehension (understanding) of this religion.”_

[Sahih Bukhari vol.1 # 71, Tirmidhi and Musnad Ahmad]

_*“It is only those who have knowledge amongst His slaves that fear Allah.”*_

[Soorah Al-Fatir (35): 28]

“Seek knowledge, because seeking it for the sake of Allah is a worship. And knowing it makes you more God-fearing; and searching for it is jihad, teaching it to those who do not know is charity, reviewing and learning it more is like tasbeeh. Through knowledge Allah will be known and worshipped. With the knowledge Allah will elevate people and make them leaders and imams, who will in turn guide other people.”

[Fatawa Ibn Taymiyya vol.10, p.39]

_“Whoever treads on a path in search of Islamic knowledge, Allah will ease the way to Paradise for him. The angels will lower their wings, pleased with this seeker of knowledge, and everyone in the heavens and on earth will ask forgiveness for the knowledgeable person, even the fish in the deepest of waters will ask for his forgiveness”_

_“He whom death overtakes while he is engaged in acquiring knowledge with a view to reviving Islam with the help of it, there will be one degree between him and the Prophets in Paradise .”_

SEEKING PROTECTION AGAINST ONESELF AND SHAYTAN'S HARM

Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, Abu Hurayrah, and other companions رضي الله عنه, all reported that the Prophet ﷺ taught them to say when going to bed:

اللَّهُمَّ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَاطِرَ السَّمَاواتِ والْأَرْضَ، رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي، وَمِنْ شَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ، وَأَنْ أَقْتَرِفَ عَلَى نَفْسِي سُوءاً، أَوْ أَجُرَّهُ إِلَى مُسْلِمٍ

Allaahumma 'Aalimal-ghaybi wash-shahaadati faatiras-samaawaati wal'ardhi, Rabba kulli shay 'in wa maleekahu, 'ash-hadu 'an laa 'ilaaha 'illaa 'Anta, 'a'oothu bika min sharri nafsee, wa min sharrish-shaytaani wa shirkihi, wa 'an 'aqtarifa 'alaa nafsee soo 'an, 'aw 'ajurrahu 'ilaa Muslimin.

(O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the evident, Maker of the heavens and the earth, Lord of everything and its Master, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the evil of Satan and his helpers. (I seek refuge in You) from bringing evil upon my soul and from harming any Muslim)

Allahumma inni aas,bahtu minka ,Fi nimatin wa afiyatin wa sitr, fa atimma alayya ni'mataka ,Wa afiyataka wa sitraka fi-dunya wa al akhira
 
Translation
O Allah, I rose up in the morning with blessings, strength and concealment (of my shortcomings), all of which are from You. So complete all the blessings and strength from You and the concealment for me in this life and the hereafter
