SFEER00004 - DØEMP (BEL/NL)

Meet Arne, also known by his artist name DØEMP. Born in Roermond, Netherlands but grown up in Belgium with a dual nationality. This 26-year-old DJ found his passion for techno music at a young age. It all started with drum and bass, but it was during his studies in Antwerp that he truly fell in love with techno, frequenting clubs like Club Vaag where he eventually worked as a bartender before taking to the decks himself.

DØEMP's approach to selecting tracks for his sets is intuitive. He senses the vibe of the event beforehand, whether it's an open-air festival, a nighttime party, or a closing set, and curates a playlist of around 100 tracks from which he chooses during his performance. Winning his first DJ contest was a pivotal moment in his career, instilling him with confidence and leading to rapid progress. Joining Bright Bookings agency was another significant step, marking his growth and success in the industry.

Preparation is key for DØEMP. He always ensures he has at least 20 new tracks that resonate with his current vibe, searching for fresh music before each set. And a pint before hitting the decks never hurts to calm the nerves.

DØEMP's strength lies in his ability to adapt his sets to different venues and audiences. He reads the energy of the crowd through their movements, adjusting the BPM and track selection accordingly. Among his sources of inspiration are artists like Elon Bass, Sachsentrance, Blayde, Heggemann, and Venere, whose sounds influence his own style.

When it comes to BPM, DØEMP prefers a faster pace, typically playing tracks between 160 and 170 BPM. Reflecting on the evolution of the techno music scene, DØEMP acknowledges its broadening scope, noting that many listeners may not fully appreciate its diversity. Nonetheless, he emphasizes the importance of fun and enjoyment on the dance floor above all else.

As the founder of SFEERBEHEER, DØEMP's journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Balancing his responsibilities as an organizer with his passion for music has been a learning experience, but after five years, he's proud of what he and his team have accomplished. DØEMP continues to leave his mark on the techno scene, bringing his unique energy and sound to audiences worldwide.
