Since 1988, when Zion Train was born in Oxford, I started playing my reggae/dub parties. The history of Zion Train in Poland is strictly linked with our Joint Venture Sound System activities since 1996, when they hit the country with digital dub for the first time, as pioneers of the genre and spread it all around. This history is written with countless shows – both at major festivals and remote clubs in many Polish towns. It also includes some production work for Poland and from Poland, as well as great live moments and dubplates. With this year’s common celebrations of 30, I wanted to share some of these golden moments from my archives, showing Zion Train’s work from quite unique side for the global listener. A collaboration between dub producer Manasseh and virtuoso violin-viola player Praise, an audiographic blend of classical and reggae music reflects the calm within the chaos of city living. This visual accompanying the debut single 'Yes Mic' from the forthcoming LP, 'Manasseh Meets Praise', captures the duality and takes it further. The journey from West to South London during lockdown also follows the route that Manasseh took, from where the sound system was built ready for Notting Hill Carnival 1985, to his first studio in Brixton, from 1991-2000. After 10 years in the countryside, Nick is now back in Ladbroke Grove where the sound started and this album was produced.
