DONT BREAK MY WINGS

Inspired by music from noir films and Twin Peaks(ish) things.  I imagine this piece playing as, you guessed it, the film credits are rolling, after all is concluded.

Messing about with some things that have been in my head.  The opening uses a jazz progression that I have been fiddling with for a while, with the bass part done on my Fender Jazz.  The middle section is meant to be contrasting and somewhat chaotic.

A ghost story.

Taking my own advice, sharing unfinished work. This is going to be a ghost story of some kind.

It's fairly rough: a single take of each track, entirely unedited parts, mostly unmixed.

Two decisions unlocked the composition for me as I was working:

1) Replacing the bass guitar with double bass. My hands aren’t fully up to it (you can hear them getting tired 😅) but it brought a huge amount of physicality that wasn’t there before.

2) Sitting with one of the changes for a while, eventually finding a line that hung perfectly inside the harmony. Rhodes first, but then doubled it (many times…) with the mellowest trumpet playing I could muster.

The Haunting (instrumental demo)

tension is the first track I've worked on since releasing Waiting for Spring.  It is built around a bass sequence played from my Pro-1 synth.  It is layered with rhythmic ideas that are happening in contrasting time signatures, which adds to the tension, musically, and creates a feeling of anticipation and instability.  Other synths used were:  Behringer Crave, Korg Monologue, Roland S-1 and Maschine Micro (drums).  This may or may not be a finished version.

Another track where I'm screwing around with automation and whatnot and def a track I myself couldn't stop listening to once it was finished! Hope you guys like it
