Can you believe it? Fall of 2014 marks the 20TH ANNIVERSARY of YOSHITOSHI, the seminal record label founded by Deep Dish in 1994. To celebrate, we are bringing the classics back, remastered and with new remixes from an amazing group of heavy hitters from all corners of the dance world.

Given that Yoshitoshi’s roots are ingrained in house music, it’s only fitting to start the #YoshiClassics campaign with Eddie Amador’s “House Music”. A true Yoshitoshi classic released in 1998 that went on to become a global phenomena. The hypnotic rhythm and infectious “Not Everyone Understands House Music” has become the preach anthem for generations of dance music lovers.

From the dust laden warehouses of Chicago emerges “Ash & Dash”.

The voluminous collaboration of Skender Makota and Mel Hammond.

Well respected in their own right, individually these two madmen have done more than most duos can conceive.
 

Skender Makota a.k.a. “The Balkanimal” has leant his talents to legends like Frankie Knuckles, Roy Davis Jr., Julius The Mad Thinker and The Monkeynuts Project.

This Berklee School grad is the multi-instrumentalist of “Ash & Dash”.

Delivering funky live and synth bass licks with heavy jazz filled keys atop signature drum programming  from Hammond.

 

Mel, the best kept Chicagoland secret, is known for his beat driven productions, which keep the dance floor moving, as well as deep spoken word vocals in all of the Ash & Dash productions, and other well known classics, such as “From Chicago to Paris”. 
The prose he provides is not only thought provoking but entertaining as well.

The group also has a few guest vocalists and players in rotation.

“Ash & Dash” delivers all of these elements in one futuristic sonic mélange.

The true techno dream team of Dubfire & Oliver Huntemann revisit their Elements project from a few years ago with a new series of killer remixes. Terra - originally released in 2011, did all sorts of damage to dance-floors across the globe. Now, it’s all set to do it again thanks to this Joseph Capriati Remix. The Italian techno headliner has grown into a major force on the scene in recent years, and here delivers a signature slice of muscular, driving techno - taut, dramatic and devastating. Paired with a remix of the now seminal Feugo Julien Jeweil’s remix also hits the spot - the track received a 2016 overhaul with some of Jeweil’s signature flair. The Frenchman has been a constant figure on the top of various charts and line ups for some time, and its easy to see why - Fuego is stripped back machine funk primed for big systems and even bigger moments.

01 Terra (Joseph Capriati Remix)

I've grown up listening to Moby. I've grown up listening albums like 'Play' and '18'. I've grown up listening 'Go', 'Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad',  'Porcelain' and 'Natural Blues'. They are all an important part of my life, but if there's one cut that really has touched my heart, has to be 'Natural Blues'. Can't explain why. Is not Moby's most perfect composition but it doesn't exist any other track that makes me feel like this. A mix of sadness and hope. And here I am, 31 years old (almost the same age as Moby when he wrote 'Natural Blues') and 20 years after its release, remixing my favorite tune. Trying not to destroy a piece of work I love and has meant so much to me. Has been one of the most beatiful challenges of my entire carreer. What else can I ask for when I'm remixing my favourite track? Nothing more. I just tried to give it my own touch. A tribute. Take it from my heart and bring it to the dancefloor. And I have the feeling that I've done it. I'm really lucky.

British DJ-producer My Cat Snoop joins Hottrax’s roster with three moody cuts including a remix from Toronto’s Nathan Barato. 

Dropping his first releases in 2015 on labels like Deep Tech Records, Yoruba Grooves and Dark Face Recordings, My Cat Snoop was quickly propelled into the limelight and has since followed up with appearances on Dirtybird, Underground Audio, MOOD and W&O Street Tracks. Real name Gregg Ashley, Snoop cut his teeth as a resident in Brighton’s dance music scene when not spending numerous seasons in Ibiza. With regular support from the likes of Richy Ahmed, Nicole Moudaber, wAFF, Sonny Fodera and German Brigante, My Cat Snoop is unquestionably one to watch. 

Robust kicks and murky stabs form the basis of ‘Repeat’ whilst sinister vocal murmurs operate throughout, making way for the more up-tempo ‘Can’t Quit’ with its echoing snares, tantalizing looped sample and rumbling low-end. ‘Stop’ sees a compelling groove and stuttering hats join industrial synths before Hot Creations and Paradise staple Nathan Barato’s remix of ‘Repeat’ incorporates crunchy percussion and a heady hook set to invigorate any dancefloor its dropped on.

The label boss sets the bar of the year as SNOE’s second release is delivered by Andreas Henneberg. Loved for his wild and diverse style, Andreas is always pushing the boundaries and draws inspiration from many genres when masterfully crafting one dance floor monster after another.

His newest EP is no different, and the first track “Mommy’s Wrap” shows that he has no intention on giving the dancers time to sleep. An alluring and powerful groove guides the direction of the tune, moving between a melodic touch and a fierce smack in the face. While building a huge momentum in the break it is underlined by an incredibly tight groove that really works as the cherry on top. “Cologne” is the second track of the release, the vivid drums and percussions create an irresistible funked up techno groove while the chattily synth gives in incredibly powerfil vibe, the whole track just pulsating of energy.
