When I'm not on my laptop, I use an iPod Nano to check new promos and demos, usually when i'm on the move. My good friend Jesse Skeens (MSTRKRFT, Death from Above 1979) had sent over this release on his Teenage Riot imprint and while it wasn't necessarily my cup of tea, I kept listening over and over to the original mix and just felt like there were elements to the track which I couldn't quite get out of my head; I really kept hearing something there that could benefit from a re-edit of sorts. So then I forgot about it for a few months and then while in the thick of the summer touring madness, I came across it again and decided to take a shot at a simple re-edit on my flight which I could play out. While far from finished or cohesive, it blew up whatever club or festival I was playing that night and I decided to really focus on it over the following days to get it sounding exactly how I was hearing it in my head. Once finished, I then polished it with my co-pilot Matt Nordstrom while working in LA that October. In many respects it's a clever cut and paste job as opposed to a fully-fledged remix but it works; and it's VERY different from my usual sound so in that regard, I am very happy with the results:-) - Dubfire

Gregor Tresher kicks off 2015 looking to break new soil with his first ever full release for John Digweed's Bedrock Records.   

Last year was as hectic as ever for the Gregor and he came into it on high from the success of his artist album Nightcolours and having closed out 2013 by releasing an astonishing Laurent Garnier remix of the title track, on his own imprint.   Time to relax a little maybe? Not a chance. January saw the remixed version of the album hit the stores and this was backed within a few weeks by 'Taurus', Gregor's enticing collaboration with Petar Dundov. The summer saw him remix the Chymera classic 'Shadowdancer' and he closed 2014 with the superb 'Midas / Disturber' double-header.   

Somewhat of a musical chameleon, Tresher is as at home creating deeper shades of house for the likes of Moon Harbour and Ovum as he is techno rhythms for Music Man, Cocoon and Drumcode.   With label boss Digweed a huge fan, Bedrock is yet another perfect fit for the German and he opens his account with the mighty, melodic and Kraken'esque 'Goliath' and the razor-sharp lightning bolt that is 'Stormblade'.

A return to the source: ‘Ribcage’ is where it all began for the Dubfire project. After years of exploring, subverting and setting brave new benchmarks in the house world, this marked the start of Ali Shirazinia setting out to set the same creative benchmarks in techno. Restrained, drawn-out but beastly when it wanted to be, the original was a serious statement of intent. Even at the time you got a sense it was going to be a historic tune. Loco Dice especially felt that when he signed it to Desolat 10 years ago.

To celebrate this time-flying milestone, Dubfire’s recruited two of the most respected names possible for remix duties. First up, the unstoppable, unavoidable, unquenchable Dense & Pika who keep within the dramatic rising template but with a whole new set of instruments and textures… And a percussion palette that absolutely sizzles when the whole groove kicks in mid-way. Phenomenal.

Hot on their heels comes a unique remix invitation to On-U legend and one of the UK’s most decorated and treasured studio controllers Adrian Sherwood. Turning in a serious techno re-cut that pays tribute to every element and takes over 12 minutes to make sure they each shine amid the head-twisting pools of tripped-out decay, it’s clear his time with Pinch has had a profound effect.
Two incredibly well considered and detailed remixes that remind you what remixes should be… Brave new chapters of a story we all love being told. These will sound great when the 20th anniversary remixes are commissioned in 2027.

After the positive reactions on "Diablo", Oliver and I naturally decided to dive into a follow-up (with a rather appropriate title)! Not sure why we chose Spanish names but we seemed to be onto a good thing so we decided to keep nurturing those creative instincts. We had quite a few ideas going back and forth with this one, hence the two-part approach to the final version. Conceptually and with the working title, we wanted to take a lighter approach to this one, creating something less sinister than "Diablo" and I think that we succeeded nicely, helping to eventually take things into our "Elements" series. I should also mention how excited we were to have a brilliant Gaiser mix for this! - Dubfire

Milestones are never forgotten. When "Sunshine" was doing the rounds back in the day, everyone and their mother was on it, and rightly so.

Naturally it was up to 1605 to bring the anthem of anthems to the spotlight once again and hit everyone where it hurts, with five completely different renditions.

Umek sets the record straight with a monstrous interpretation, ready to stand the test of times to come. The journey continues with D. Ramirez and his bouncing version, while Uto Karem goes the subliminal route. The mighty Filterheadz themselves have done a hi-octane 2012 remix, Filthy Rich goes for a luscious vibe, and in case you misplaced it, or have been living under a rock for the past years, the original mix is here as well.
