Set for release on @makhunikrecords, @rakans' new EP 'Withdrawals' explores the tension between desire and detachment, featuring five tracks that blur the line between experimental and club sounds.

“With 'Withdrawals', I wanted to channel the emotions that often come from the struggle between desire and self-preservation, between the drive to connect and the need to retreat," he says.

Carluschka is a Hamburg-based DJ whose sound drifts between progressive and acid house. She favours crisp bongo percussion, rolling basslines and smooth, dynamic transitions. Rooted in ’90s progressive vibes, her style is textured and immersive, moving from slow, deep moments to playful twists—never too serious, always on point.

Beyond the decks she runs FLINTA Roundtable, a platform for exchange and education in the music scene. She also co-hosts Two Girls, One Club at Golden Pudel Club and is a resident at Synthetic Love.

This mix was recorded at home in Hamburg, barefoot and slightly hungover, after festival season. Slower than her usual sets, it leaves room to breathe, flowing from stripped-down minimal and micro-house into dubby grooves, chunky house rollers and a touch of progressive warmth.

The EP features five compositions that, as always, blend quirky influences with distinctly personal oddities.

Caution: several of these tracks contain rhythms that might inspire dancing — though it’s unclear whether listeners will actually follow through, given the spells of languor and melancholy that occasionally drift onto the dancefloor...
