portneuf (version)

played on a 2006 Gretsch Pro Jet retrofitted with Dynasonic pickups. Effects include EQD Sound Shank, EQD Tone Reaper, probably some Fuzzhugger 3-knob Great Wall and/or Wren & Cuff Tall Font Russian. the stuff that sounds like Mo Tucker far, far away is bass lines with the Octave Multiplexer decimated by the E2's characteristic subtle deviance. DiscumBOBulator with tremolo, some Seppuku Mind Warp doing subtle shit and probably some TC Phaser XII, supplemented by the rack: Yamaha GEP50 set to Phase Shifter and SPX90 to a custom reverb, Rane compressor and parametric EQ, and everything going through the #45 patch on the MidiVerb II that makes anything sound like Slowdive. transferred straight from the output of the MV II via Giffin iMic interface to MacBook Pro and Audacity. 

this is different from my other tracks, which are short loops literally repeating themselves; the loop is performing and being processed by the rack gear as it goes. it's a little bit closer to live.

no effects at all other than the RV-3, just glissando guitar played with an X-Acto knife handle and some picked interjections. Played on an Korean Epiphone 61 reissue SG. recorded from the guitar amp's preamp out straight to Audacity. sorry for the hiss inherent in redubbing something very quiet.

Everything on the bass pickup of a project guitar (hereafter, "the Kondor") i built with a Kent body, Guyatone bridge PU, and Hondo neck. the plangent piano chord is guitar through the Randy's Revenge. rhythms from the Boss Slicer, and of course the Ghost Echo reverb. RV3 plays odd cross-rhythms throughout. run out of the preamp of the Electar Tube 10 practice amp into Mac via Griffin iMic interface. someday i'll get a decent interface. sorry for the long delay between posts.

the triumph of the will-o

recorded with the Hopf guitar with the Hofner neck. the rhythm and the plinking banjo-like sounds in the center mix are the BOSS Slicer, added 3/4 of the way through and synched in. the 'Broadway" synthetic vocals were a happy accident, from some one of the layers of filtered guitars with vibrato, envelope filter, Sound Shank and Tone Reaper.

played on a 2010 Tokai Les Paul sunburst and the Kondor project guitar. bass is the LP through the Octave Multiplexer and the Tall Font Russian, the latter of which pops up throughout. EQed on a Boss GEB-7 then straight out the buffer to Griffin iMic interface and to MacBook Pro.

all improvised on the Kondor. recorded on the TC Electronic Ditto x2, processed in/with Audacity. the main effect is the Bixonic Expandora v.3 and of course the Ghost Echo reverb. dedicated to the Divided Alien; may he travel the spaceways in endless delight.
