Really pleased to announce this vinyl only podcast from Adam Mclean, founder of Descend Coventry, he has been Djing since back in 2004 and is continuing to leaned towards the more minimal spectrum of the sound. He has played at a variety of venues across UK and the globe along side some respectable names in the industry. Adam has started his own project Descend with the aim to bring the minimal sound to the Midlands.
Not an owner of records shop but a great collector of over 700 records.

His rise as DoubtingThomas has been a slow and steady one, with releases on key underground labels and prestigious residencies confirming what those in the know already understand; that this is an artist worth paying attention to. Intricate sounds, sizzling textures and unending grooves for over an hour. A true odyssey with one of the scene’s finest.

There is a saying in Iceland. If you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes.
We witnessed almost all seasons within this one hour set alongside the owner of Micro Orbit Records, Michele Zanco aka Zenk, our first guest for our “Minimal in Iceland” series. This was filmed by the shore of Skorradalsvatn lake, in the Hvalfjordur region about 1 hour drive outside of the capital Reykjavik. The name of the cabin is Stálpastaðir and it represents the only remnants of a farm which was abandoned in 1951.

It’s safe to say that Spanish duo Clock Poets are pretty hardware-obsessed. Known for leaning towards minimal and techno planes, the Spanish duo are similarly renowned for their live sets and improvised jams, the likes of which have won plaudits aplenty from some of electronic music’s similarly renowned minds. One such person who’s clearly enamoured with what the boys are all about is Sleep is Commercial boss Andrea Ferlin, who has hosted them before on his much-revered imprint. For Clock Poets’ latest release, they rock up to the label once more; this time courtesy of the incredible ‘Interaction One – Berlin’. Releasing eight tracks from a lengthy recent recording, it’s a fascinating insight into the musical makeup of the duo which we’ve premiered here. We also caught up with them recently to learn more. Spiri:tual is a minimal music artist who creates soundscapes that are both meditative and danceable. His music is characterized by its stripped-down, yet complex arrangements, which are built around simple, repetitive patterns. These patterns gradually evolve over time, creating a hypnotic effect that will take you on a journey.

At the heart of Spiri:tual's sound is a deep understanding of the power of minimalism. Rather than relying on complex melodies or flashy production techniques, he creates a sense of depth and intensity through carefully crafted arrangements of percussion, basslines, and atmospheric effects.

Afterhours 016: Silat Beksi ☁

Vlad Caia learned classical music before he was a producer, which makes sense when you listen to any of his releases. Like many of his Romanian peers, Caia’s music is slow-burning and organic, with more of a focus on subtle elements than big drops or bass lines. Originally inspired by scene leaders [a:rpia:r], Caia is part of a new generation of producers that have brought attention to Romania’s rich music scene in the last few years. 

Though primarily known as a solo artist, for much of his career Caia has been linked to the Romanian producer Cristi Cons. The pair can often be found making and playing stripped-back minimal together as SIT, as well as performing live under the alias Amorf, where they play a style of rich jazz-influenced house alongside pianist Mischa Blanos. They also run Amphia, a vinyl-only label that’s printed music from some of Romania’s key artists and will release Caia’s debut album later on this year. 

Caia plays Farringdon alongside Romanian staples Priku and Petre Inspirescu this Saturday, so we contacted him for a mix ahead of the date. For his mix he recorded an hour of typically organic soundscapes, before discussing sharing his unreleased music with friends, Romania’s afterhours culture, and his forthcoming release plans.
