Next up on Exotic Refreshment we welcome estimua, a Germany-based producer. The title track "Morning Sun" gives people the impression of waking up early in the morning after a good and fulfilling sleep, somewhere in India. It's spring time, the sun is rising, you can hear birds chirping outside everywhere. Although this is the general atmosphere, the lush and atmospheric sitar, the chopped vocals, marble sounds and a subtle touch of tabla are adding a rather darker and hypnotic vibe to the track.

Among the two beautiful original tracks entitled "Morning Sun" and "Flug der Manukoden", you will find here also four remixes from Nyvs (Sol Selectas, Underyourskin, Dream Culture, Magician On Duty), Ephlum (Bercana Music, Cosmic Awakenings, Shango, Lump Records), Nährwerk (Underyourskin Records, Amselcom, down.) and Sydka (MONADA, LOKD, Kamai Music).

Image design and composition is probably one of the most fundamental forms of artistic expression. This field of art is almost infinite in its possible manifestations. An image can be created with highly complex computer programmes or with the simplest of means. In the digital cosmos, each pixel can be configured exactly according to the artists ideas and wishes. In contrast, impressive works of art can also be created with natural materials such as stones, twigs or with coal. The ability to compose images is as complicated as it is simple. It depends on the artist and his creative intention. The Canvas remix by Just Emma & Urem is a little darker than the original version. Expressive percussions and analogue-sounding synths give the song a clubby makeover. Elements of the original track are used thoughtfully and in specific places. Among other things, the unique vocals are incorporated into the new composition. Overall, this remix is a successful addition to the original and presents another form of Canvas music. Therefore, we do not consciously perceive this whole process and the briefly reduced incidence of light. On average, this procedure is conducted 10-15 times per minute. In moments of great excitement, joy or concentration, we can blink significantly less often. Due to the excessive focus, the blinking becomes a consciously controlled process for a certain amount time. Pulli & Chomba are undoubtedly experts of Downtempo music. Their sound style is powerful, driving and melodic at the same time. They seem predestined to remix a master of his craft like Joe Carl. While staying true to the original, they add their own touch to this interpretation of „Days Are Gone“. The result is a harmonious mix that is a pleasure to listen to. Sometimes music becomes a place. For Caldera, that place was Jevvers, a music studio hidden in a Brighton grove, where leaves rustled against the glass and machines glowed in the dim light.

For nearly a decade, Jevvers was a refuge, a test lab, a temple. Now, Caldera is closing the door on that chapter. His new EP, Last Transmissions From Jevvers, out soon on Polish label DANS, is both a love letter and a farewell. Five tracks, recorded between 2018 and 2024, soaked in the hush and warmth of his private world. You can almost smell the damp earth and hear the rain outside the window. Caldera’s never been one for sticking to rules. His music slips between styles - dub techno, broken beats, and ambient textures, all filtered through his own quiet intensity. On Last Transmissions From Jevvers, that chameleon quality shines.

Today, we are happy to shine the light on “Rhymo.” Here, Caldera joins forces with queniv, one of the core members of Amsterdam’s De Lichting collective, and definitely not a stranger to Delayed. The two built “Rhymo” under pandemic skies, trading stems and sketches over the internet while the world held its breath. No shared studio sessions, no late-night takeout runs, just distant screens and a shared instinct for sound.
The result is a track that feels alive and weightless. “Rhymo” rides a supple, broken groove, punctuated by crisp percussion that flickers like sunlight on water. Pads swell and recede, carrying warmth and subtle melancholy. Melodic threads drift in and out, leaving space to breathe. It’s music for private moments and sunrise dance floors alike, introspective yet gently propulsive.
