Ecocide - Dubzcooker and 4bstr4ck3r

Voici une piste que nous avons composée en plein été, dans une maison ancienne, au fond d'une vallée Vosgienne. Nous avons récolté sur place tous les samples utilisés, pour ancrer notre musique dans l’atmosphère particulière du lieu. Imprégnés par le blues, et fascinés par la techno, nous ne voulions pas nous contenter d’apporter des influences de l’un de ces genres dans l’autre, mais les entremêler dans quelque chose qui soit leur fusion à parts égales.

Dans son grand âge, le blues s’appuie toujours sur ces antiques instruments de bois et d’os, dont les vibrations ont traversé les siècles. Pour l’épauler, à l’aube du millénaire, nous avons choisi des machines, faites de métal, dont les corps parcourus d’électrons ne s’altèrent pas et ne faiblissent jamais.

This is a track that some people will have heard elsewhere, others not, but it seemed silly not to have it up here. This is one of the first things that Ott and I did together, beginning what has evolved to become a really exciting and productive creative relationship. This is an old song, with a bit of history to it. The lyrics are a poem by Fernando Pessoa, that I read one day on a 'Poems on the Underground' poster, on the tube! Then the guitar riff fused with the lyric during an intense psychedelic experience I had one day in Nottingham. Then, bringing it to Ott's studio, we both added synths, and arrangement, and he did various bits of clever Ott-style trickery, and mixed it, and voila! This will be on my album, though it is somewhat of an anomaly, as it is a lot more vocal-centred than most of what I am working on. A song is nice, from time-to-time, though :-)

Dubztr4ck3r is the combination between Dubz Cooker and 4bstr4ck3r which started early 2013.
Both complement each other. They made music together, they lived in squats together, they organized raves together.

With strong dub and psychedelic influences, the duo goes far beyond standards and develops an original take on glitchy and breaky bass music.

This 4-track EP contains all the elements that make their original sound. Through a conscious and militant purpose, they draw here the portrait and the state of living ecosystems struggling with the relentless growth of technologies.

By blending organical textures and machine-like synth noises, the symbiosis operates a rare junction of different genres reflecting a mesmerising and creative energy.

L'album vous emmènera dans l'univers à la fois deep, mélodieux et hypnotique d'ekaOlogik, surfant sur des sections basse-rythmiques assez groovies et entêtantes.

Il décrit aussi, plus subtilement, le bien le mal, le clair et l'obscur, le féminin et le masculin, le lien à nos origines et les futurs possibles, en laissant entendre que les graines de lumières sont entre nos mains et à portée de main.
