After his excellent Scenario#5 release in 2016, followed by a Remix E.P. incl. Remixes by DJ Deep, Janeret and label head Sebo K, DJ Honesty is back on the label with a super strong 4 track E.P..
The opener „Joao’s Groove“ is a chord driven track featuring warm string samples causing a subtle dramatic vibe. On the A2 track „Limbo“ Honesty combines straight forward pushing drums with slightly modulated melancholic pads and shy arpeggios.
„Turn The Track“ beginns the flipside with a moody atmosphere and trippy grooves before the final track „Yambu“ rounds up the E.P. with a heavy Bassline, lots of tape delay and deep dubbed out chords.

Romana Records is a new vinyl-only label from Magnus Asberg, a musician many of you will doubtless know thanks to his work under his C-Soul alias. A fierce proponent of all things house and techno over the past three decades, Magnus continues to be active in the house and techno scenes, and over the years has lent his expert, astute sounds to renowned labels such as Plastic City, Ornate Music, Viva Recordings, Oh So Coy & On The House Records. 

The label kicks off here courtesy of the brilliant sounds of the Life EP,  a funky, uptempo slab of classy, top-drawer house that’s sure to appeal to fans of such sounds. Contemporary sounding but with roots that stretch back to the halcyon days of tech-house’s golden era, chances are if you’ve ever partied at one of London’s famous Wiggle parties (or even Mr C’s Superfreq shindigs) then you’ll have an idea of what we’re talking about here. So who better to get things underway than Silverlining? Unusually, it’s the remixer who is first up here, and needless to say, his interpretation of ‘Life’ is a thoroughly impressive one. Taking the original by the horns, he reinterprets things as only he knows how, calling on sparse parts but layering it with a heightened sense of groove and deepness for which he’s well known. Silverlining’s contribution here is a fitting accompaniment to the original, that’s for sure. 

The B side comprises solely of Asberg’s original version of ‘Life’. Full of clever percussion, this is a track that keeps the energy high. Loaded with suspense, it’s the perfect cut with which to keep the dancefloor ticking over with great momentum. Very much a tale of two sides -- with each one boasting their own appeal - Romana Records really does get off to a flyer here.
