Stoking the coals in the boiler room is Hot Coffee, a Richmond based producer who fires up "On the Verge" for his vinyl debut. The aggressive and furiously anthemic tune pushes the EP past rough seas and sails us safely through the night.

Kampana delivers once again with a pair of dance floor gems that will please lovers of funk, disco and gospel alike.

On the A-side, @aroop-roy means serious business with 'Reason to Dance'. Driven by an outrageous slap bass, infectious horn stabs and a limb-shaking vocal refrain, it's no surprise that this has been THE secret weapon of his recent sets around the world.

On the flip, Detroit native Peter Croce, fresh from the huge success of his Razor-N-Tape EP, comes in equally strong, with the gospel-fuelled disco cut 'Just Like Heaven'. The track builds patiently, lingering on a raw disco groove, honing in on a powerful brass section and spirit-lifting vocals, and eventually climaxing with epic strings and thunderous piano.

When it comes to releasing Lo-Fi house grooves, there are few labels at the moment that are doing it better than Shall Not Fade. In fact, only a couple weeks ago, we were writing about their superb release of Trudge’s “Negative Spaces” on their sister imprint Lost Palms. This is precisely why we find SNF's upcoming release of Italian producer Nicholas so exciting! It appears that the label is branching out of its comfort zone, deciding to come out with a record that is discernibly different from the rest of their discography.

For those that are fans of Nicholas, you are aware that jazz plays an integral role in the music he comes out with. His mini-LP on Seb Wildblood’s Church titled Lonnie’s Reprise is a perfect example of how the house producer has taken his career into a whole new direction; choosing to produce music that feels more at home near a fireplace than a late night on the dancefloor. This is precisely the sort of mood Nicholas is going for in his latest, four-track EP “Sound of Earth,” in which he orchestrates the jazziest of affairs with the help of recent collaborator and Detroit vocalist Nikki-O (aka Sky Covington).

The lead track Ancient Future does a fantastic job of setting the tone for the rest of the piece. Isolated, yet vibrant drum notes mark its beginning, but gradually work in a billowing assortment of keys, high-hats, snares, and horns that become more and more captivating as the song builds and builds. Then, after reaching a climax at the 5-minute mark with a lively duet of trumpets, Ancient Future disassembles itself and leaves in a similar fashion it arrived: with the play of drums. However, they certainly sound more somber the second time around; giving the song an almost fleeting, ephemeral quality.

'The Wolf' is back at it on one of our favorite labels Toy Tonics, with a woozy, afro jazz inspired piece. Full of Wolfman's trademark synth flexing and piano licks. The production is a warm and inviting cosmic journey that only lets up briefly to a 4/4 movement, but the payoff is so sweet.

Trust us when we say we’re truly delighted by the fact that we're approaching 2000 fellow appreciators on Soundcloud. About a year ago when we turned 4-digits we released the ”1000 thanks” V/A, which was received in a way that urged us to make this a tradition, thus now releasing volume 2 in to celebrate our second anniversary.

The ”1000 thanks vol. 2 V/A” contains no less than contributions from 21(!) of our friends and favorite house acts. A lot of hi hats obviously and different nuances of house represented by tracks from the likes of @M-ono, @Hotmood, @emilsunesson, @Sable-Blanc, @AriBald, @magnusfelix, @replikamusic, @ypolewka and more. A compilation with a melancholic vibe at times, yet uplifting and filled with aspirations. Guaranteed to make you feel.

Vol. 2 will be available digitally on all major platforms 10th of March.

1000 Thanks Vol. 2 V/A - Out March 10th

Veteran Croatian producer Ilija Rudman has a new EP out next week and we've got the silky smooth track 'Distant Feelings' off of it.
Twinkling electric piano motifs and dreamy sustained chords offset an almost menacing analog bassline that steamrolls throughout, whilst the splashy ride cymbals give a light jazzy lift to it all. Fine stuff as always from Ilija.
