Unsung hero and champion of deep Norwegian beats, the new EP from Bergen's Leca is leftfield, wobbly and damn good.

Soft On Space harks back to the retro future of italo with space station samples and anologue synths over heavily reverbed house beats. It is the sound of optimism, found by looking up at the stars.

Den Fantastiske Fuzzn keeps things warm with a jumping keyboard, cowbell, vocal sample, disco strings, sweet leads and deep house know.

Finally Tur-Retur Venusberget takes it chug with wobbling B-lines, Rhodes, chorused toms and a jacking beat. Guaranteed to make you hurdygurdy!

For Sooo Wet's fifths release LA native Just Baker is welcomed aboard to celebrate his premier EP. With  inspiration from the city's different areas he manages to create a release of no less than five eclectic house cuts. Through sampling and original composition he provides sound that is both modern and nostalgic at the same time. This indeed is an amazingly smooth ride through the city of Angels.

If Wolf Music's forty sixth record touched on the burgeoning talent of rising Portuguese star Pedro, this 2019 follow-up delves deep into the accomplished head that rests on those youthful shoulders.

We feature, 'Alef' which rolls around with a funked out bass and psychedelic strummings, married with crisp cymbals and polished piano playing. Pedro's dream inducing trip still takes its hold though, with distorted, panning, hallucinogenic vocal cries swelling across the airwaves.

PREMIERE: James Pepper - Black City [Neovinyl]

Today's premiere comes from Brownswood KOKOROKO and their rhythmic track 'Adwa'. 

The band’s name is an Orobo – a Nigerian tribe and language – word meaning ‘be strong’. Sonically living up to their name, Kokoroko are an all star band featuring leading lights from the London jazz community. Powered by seismic horn section (Maurice Grey, saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi, trombonist Richie Seivewright), guitar (Oscar Jerome), keys (Yohan Kebede), drums (Ayo Salawu) and percussion (Onome Ighmare); Kokoroko are on a mission to fashion new languages using the medium of afrobeat.

Adwa opens deep-ridge grooves. Drawing from the syncopated funk of Ethio-jazz, it takes its name from the Ethiopian city of the same name. Composed by keyboardist Yohan Kebede, the victorious spirit of the track is a meditation not only on the infamous Battle of Adwa, but of the way societies evolve in the aftermath of conflict.

Bike Thieves are back. On last year's celebrated "Laura EP", the Stockholm duo plunged into the sounds of classic garage and deep house. On "Catherina EP", Erik and Daniel move in a slightly different direction. An explosive blend of afro grooves, tribal vocals and deep kicks and basslines, "Catherina EP" lets the rhythmic frenzy of Fela Kuti encounter modern house music. The record also features @Saine, one of Finland’s finest underground producers.

On the title track of "Catherina EP", Bike Thieves offer a mysterious deep house burner which slowly builds up around punchy congas, sweeping pads and female chants. This is the true story of a fearless woman who climbed the mountains of Mali without any safety equipment.

Not a lot is know about the mysterious producer 'Internet Xacker'. What do we know? Originally from Kiev but now living in Berlin. One previous release called 'Therapy for Anxiety' that was a self released vinyl only and just 15 copies produced! We like his style.

One other thing we do know is, that this producer has been heavily influenced by the Nu Northern Disco scene and throughout this EP you'll be reminded of Todd Terje, Lindstrom and Prins Thomas. High praise this may be but the proof is in the listening.

PREMIERE: Hotmood - Get Down (Ravanelli Disco Club)

Here's a lovely slice of music made on a boat on the Thames and is a combination of dusty analogue gear, live instrumentation, and samples. 'Zongo Junction, At Night' is a late night roller with material pieced together from saturated CR-78 samples and field recordings made when Dampé was recording sound for a film about witchcraft and the internet across rural Ghana. We especially love the dreamy synth chords and cascading little toms in this one.
