God Is Music ('Piedmont Blues Project' Opening)

In a talk delivered Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture at Duke University, Braxton Shelley, a 2012 Duke graduate and a current graduate student in music theory at the University of Chicago, speaks on the life and gospel music of Richard Smallwood. Shelley penned a senior distinction thesis entitled "All Things to All Men: Richard Smallwood's Gospel Music," which looks at the cultural context, biography, compositional trajectory, and analytical elements of Smallwood's music.

Smallwood and his choir Vision performed a special Easter weekend show at The Carolina Theatre of Durham on Saturday, March 30, 2013.
