1952 Kingston, Jamaica- Duke Reid lay his gun down to help his wife run a liquor store. Duke created the first Jamaican Sound System to help bring in customers. Later he became the Trojan King of the Sound Systems. When R&B 45s from the U.S. ran short, he started his own label Treasure Isle records and launched the Rocksteady sound. This album captures the raw samples from these early Jamaican artists and remixes them in turntablist style with a gritty boom-bap feel. Selecta go massive!!
