Music Composition for BIAS, a collaboration with dancer Katherine O'Malley and videographer Mark Linnane first performed at the Dublin Dance Festival with Liz Roche Company.

BIAS

The composition explores the possibilities of music looking specifically at the aesthetic interaction between singing and voice-synthesis. In particular, it is focused on notions of perception relating to the failures, realness and expressivity of the voices. It was written in conjunction with the paper The Art of Voice-Media Composition, which delineates this field of research and composition as a genre. This performance features the singers Elaine Cormican, Siobhán Maguire, Marych O'Sullivan-Sanford and Wolodymyr Smishkewych.

Written for a TG4 television series to reflect a tranquil and spiritually rich, coastal area in Ireland's northwest.
