Dull Reality Mix 001 - Soul Disco Electronica

“Fragment” invites the listener in through the juxtaposition of the foreign and familiar. Shields’ rich soprano vocal is emotionally charged as it drips against a steady-yet-chopped rhythmic structure. This synthesis of angular rhythm and vocal-driven melody renders “Fracture” infectiously catchy—almost pop-infused, despite an experimental edge. Despite the lyrics being mostly indecipherable, they somehow feel familiar, as if we know what’s being said. It’s easy to get lost in the rhythm before it dissipates as quickly as it came in—its echo hanging in the air like the residue of a sonic rainstorm.
