Forming in Belfast in January 2009 initially as a two-piece, Cathal Cully and Neil Brogan booked their first gig as Girls Names before they’d even played together. Expanding to a three piece some months later with the addition of Claire Miskimmin on bass, the band have effortlessly refined their own personal take on the early/mid eighties shadow world of Black Tambourine, Felt and the Sound of Young Scotland. 

With their identity firmly established, debut album "Dead To Me" is the next step forward that delivers on the promise shown on previous releases. The song writing is more defined and the production values have been sharpened, representing a definitive break from the nonsensical lo-fi tag that has lazily followed them around by association. Recording for "Dead To Me" began in the last half of 2010, the band entering the studio with the conscious desire to make an old-fashioned style pop album, albeit one with a perverse haunted feel.

"Dead To Me" is released by Tough Love in UK/Europe on April 25 and by Slumberland Records in the US on April 26.

Wild Nothing are set to release a new 7" through Captured Tracks on February 21st , the
first new recordings from the band since 2010's critically acclaimed album 'Gemini'.

Where 'Gemini' was the product of 23-year-old Jack Tatum's home
recordings, "Nowhere" finds Tatum in a recording studio for the first time. With live
instrumentation and vocals from Andrea Estella of Twin Sister, "Nowhere" is a notable
departure for Wild Nothing and captures the sound of a maturing songwriter exploring
different moods.

The 7" is currently available through pre-order [LINK] on the Captured Tracks website
with a limited run of 500 on white vinyl.

Gemini and the follow-up EP, Golden Haze landed the band on numerous year-end lists
in 2010 including Pitchfork, Stereogum, Under The Radar, Rough Trade, Complex &
USA Today.

Wymond Miles - Pale Moon

Self described as minimal and stripped-down, The Holiday Crowd’s sound and lyrics arise from all manner of experience: summer afternoon camaraderie, introspective reveries and a few shapely ‘inspirations’ along the way.

The album title Over The Bluffs comes from a lyric in their song “Tiresome”, “I would have led you away from the alliance and over The Bluffs instead”, but in many ways it is an open love letter to Scarborough, Ontario, a notorious suburb of Toronto where lead singer Imran Haniff and guitar player Colin Bowers grew up. “The whole mood of the record has a Scarborough vibe to it and it only seemed fitting to name it with an honorary nod to our old stomping grounds. Scarborough has so much stacked against it; it almost seemed like The Holiday Crowd needed to stick up for it. There’s more material lyrically to write about a place that’s tangible and misunderstood than writing about Narnia or Mordor,” says Haniff. 

The Holiday Crowd was formed in 2010 when Hannif and Bowers were joined by old friend Dave Barnes on drums and newcomer and UK transplant Alex Roberts on bass.

Over The Bluffs was recorded and mixed at Inception Studios Toronto by David Hermiston, with the exception of “Never Speak Of It Again” and “Tiresome” which were mixed by Alex Bonenfant.
