"I scribbled these lyrics down on the first day of spring in 2023. My flatmate and I had been sick for a month, I was finally strong enough to pick up my guitar and play this little mantra of a riff. These lyrics take place in Nevada City, California, at the cemetery on the top of the hill, where my dearest friend and I would picnic and visit the grave of a long-gone infant. Once, under the moonlight, we brought my harp up there and I played for the dead. We’d read poetry to each other and to the residents, discuss our sadness and our gratitude, say hello to the man who was living in the 100-year old ponderosa above us that would eventually be chopped down by PG&E. This song is for the friend who brings poetry everywhere, to everyone. I have more than one version of baby blues, all of them are for her." - meka

A special live, acoustic performance recorded with S. Carey (of Bon Iver) of my song Foraker, a single released in 2018 through the Swedish independent label Dumont Dumont.

"On a sweltering, California afternoon in September, I caught S. Carey on the middle of their Bon Iver Tour at The Forum and invited him over for tacos and we recorded a live version of our song together.

Even though it's a folk song at it's heart, we decided to avoid using any guitars, and instead opting for giving space to the vocal harmonies colored by glitched out Rhodes and Harp.

My wife, Lara Somogyi, who I wrote the song for, played the harp, and the vocal support was from Chamois who features on many of my songs (End of Days, New Ground) along with live electronic manipulations from Folial (Finder), who was able to create these swirling, organic loops out of the notes of the rhodes I was sending him.

It was a really special day and I'm really excited that we captured the essence of that moment in a completely raw way. It gives the song a whole new life when it exists in a physical space for a single moment."
