Last August we released the trailer of what “DubFiles at Song Embassy” will be. It’s a documentary and an album altogether. In February 2015 Paolo Baldini, together with reggae acts Mellow Mood, Forelock, graphic novelist Davide Toffolo and anthropologist Icir Mimina Di Muro, brought his mobile studio to the Song Embassy Yard in Kingston, Jamaica, to record around thirty little-known artists from the ghetto.

The recordings lasted around a week. In the most classic soundsystem fashion, the singers would grab the mic improvising or giving new renditions of their hits on the riddims produced by Baldini. Everything was live and good first take. Every performance was filmed and the artists were later interviewed to bare witness to the incredible amount of talents Jamaica generates, the majority of whom get unfortunately little or no exposure from the media.

The first single from the album is “Boom (Wah Da Da Deng)” by Hempress Sativa Muzik. The videoclip premiered for a lucky crowd during Paolo Baldini’s session at the Reggae University at the Rototom Sunsplash - Official page, Europe’s largest reggae festival, which takes place in Spain at the end of August.

Hempress Sativa, who already featured in Mellow Mood’s latest record, is one of the rising stars of Jamaican roots music, daughter of the great Albert Malawi (selecter of Jah Love soundsystem) and part of the Jah Ova Evil Records / J.O.E collective. In “Boom (Wah Da Da Deng)” she proves to master dj-style and literally breathtaking lyrics.

The single, available on iTunes and all digital platforms and soon available on 7” vinyl, is the first in a series to be released before the “DubFiles at Song Embassy” album is published next spring. The record will be published by La Tempesta Dub, the newborn label managed by Baldini himself and reggae band Mellow Mood. To celebrate the birth of the label, the band announced a handful of Italian headline shows at the end of November. Paolo Baldini DubFIles will perform as aftershow alongside some very special guest who will be announced soon.

Dawl is a founding member of the Tone Dropout family and co runs Tone Dropout Records along side Sween. Dawl had his first vinyl release in 2013 on Tone Dropout Vol 1, since then he has featured on all the labels Various artist EPs along with releases on other labels such as Pareidolia and Klasse Wrecks. Dawl’s  musical style comes from his love of Electro, Hip Hop, Detroit style Techno, Bleep and Bass, Acid House, Chicago House and Breakbeat in its many forms such as B-Boy breaks, early 90s Hardcore and Jungle. This is strongly reflected in the music he produces and the music he buys and plays in his sets. Dawl has always had a passion for mixing and collecting records since he got his first set of turntables back in 1989 and began to DJ mainly around London and Essex in the early 90s under his real name Darren Woollard, he later adopted the name Dawl which was originally his Graffiti Writing tag.  Dawl plays and produces music in the same way he writes Graffiti borrowing and mixing styles from the golden age of dance music culture.

- Jamurai has outdone herself with creating her own jungle twist on the contemporary reggae artist hempress sativa's track boom. When speaking to Jamurai about her inspiration for the track she said she could instantly hear the jungle beat underneath the track. This bootleg has added an extra flavour to the original track with the wobbly jungle beats and the classic jungle drums.
