Deciduous-Viet Cuong

The God of Fire's worksong. Roughly translating to 'Volcanic Chant,' this piece sets the scene inside the workshop of Hephaestus. Embers and sparks fly as his hammer strikes hot iron. In order to paint this picture, some timbres this piece utilizes include the raw, visceral sound of the saxophone, use of higher pitched percussion (crotales and glockenspiel) to evoke the flurry of sparks, and most notably the percussive strikes of the anvil near the climax.
