Rabban possessed many sadistic and cruel habits of the Harkonnens, but was deprived of their intelligence and cunning, therefore, despite his seniority, the baron saw the smarter Feyd Rautha as his heir. Nevertheless, Vladimir Harkonnen appreciated the existing generic qualities of Rabban, for which he twice appointed him the planetary governor (regent-siridar) of Arrakis, where he allowed Glossu to induce widespread terror and terror among the local population in order to further displace and put Feyd at the head of the planet. whose arrival will be regarded by the inhabitants of Dune as salvation from the bloody tyranny of his brother. Rabban coped with his task brilliantly - in a couple of years of incompetent reign, most of the world's population hated him and revolted. The baron's plan was close to implementation, but his plans were thwarted by the Fremen of Paul Atreides.
The Beast Rabban died in the Battle of Arrakeen. For his deeds, he received the nickname "Mudir Nahya" (Ruler Devil) from the Fremen and remained forever in the history of Arrakis as the embodiment of excessive cruelty and reckless violence, which was remembered even after many millennia, during the reign of the God-Emperor.

Having escaped into the desert with his pregnant mother, he takes refuge with the Fremen and, having fraternized with the leader of the sietch Tabr Stilgar (becoming a lover for his niece Chani), unites them all under his command. While staying in the desert, Paul discovers in himself the gift of foresight and the ability to reproduce the memory of all his ancestors, which, in parallel, gives him the opportunity to learn that he is the result of a genetic experiment Bene Gesserit, in other words, Kwisatz Haderach. All this, as well as the makings of a mentat, excellent military training and knowledge of Ben Gesserite practices (received from his mother) makes Paul in the eyes of the Fremen Mahdi (a prophet), from whom he also receives the nickname Muad'Dib. After him, the Fremen follow in a victorious jihad, as a result of which the Atreides occupy the imperial throne. By marrying the daughter of the deposed Shaddam IV and establishing his rule throughout the Empire, Paul becomes the target of a fanatical religious cult, as well as the target of an extensive conspiracy initiated by House Corrino, as a result of which Muad'Dib is nearly killed and lost his eyes. However, the gift of foresight allows Paul to see even without them, which helps him quickly deal with the conspirators. After the birth of children and the death of Chani, Paul transfers power to his sister Alia, and he himself leaves for the desert, in order to then return to people as a blind old man and preach among them the rejection of the divine veneration of his name and the name of his sister, on whose orders he will soon be killed, due to suspicion of conspiring against her rule. 
The death of Paul will allow his children to make a coup and overthrow the possessed regent, and the martyrdom will only increase the religious veneration of Muad'Dib in the world, which his son Leto II will immediately take advantage of - becoming the padishah-emperor, he canonizes the image of Mahdi, himself and his family than many millennia ahead, will consolidate the dominance of House Atreides over all of humanity.

Thus, within the cult of the Honored Matres, there were always intrigues, conspiracies and a constant struggle for leadership, often ending in death, even for those who held the highest position in the organization. 

At the time of the invasion of the former Atreides Empire, the Honored Matres were headed by the High Dame Elpek - a strong (both physically and mentally), domineering and cruel woman, who received the nickname Spider Queen from the Bene Gesserit, because she did not disdain the most insidious methods to achieve her goals. Elpek successfully confronted her enemies (both external and internal) relying on the help of her faithful assistant - Grand Dame Logno, who was burdened by a subordinate position and hatched a secret plan to overthrow her mistress. A diplomatic hitch and the sudden invasion of Gammu by Miles Teg's troops put Elpek's authority in a precarious position, causing Logno to kill her with poison and take the place of the High Dame. Having consolidated his position, Logno quickly regroups the forces of the Honored Matres and with a successful counterattack seizes the initiative from the Atreides and the Bene Gesserit, because of which the latter are surrounded and are threatened with complete destruction. The situation is saved by the Matrons captivated by the order - Murbella, who became the Supreme Reverend Mother of the Bene Gesserit, instead of the deceased Darwi Odrade. Still the Dame of the Matrons cult, she disputes the title of High Dame from Logno and kills the latter in a short duel. Thus, Murbella gains power for herself over both warring factions and stops the war. The Cult of the Honored Matres unites with the Bene Gesserit and gains access to all the knowledge of the order, providing in return their own knowledge in the field of superhuman reflection and dexterity.

But a century later, they were overthrown by Omnius - a powerful computer superintelligence that was created by humans to fight the Titans and control all thinking machines. During the war with the Cymeks, Omnius acquired his own consciousness and personality, and he himself wished to rule the known universe. Relying on the power of the thinking machines under his control and the ability to synchronize (exchange information) with his numerous copies on different planets, Omnius subjugated humanity to his will. After 900 years of his reign, the Batlerian Jihad broke out and as a result of a devastating war, Thinking Machines, along with Omnius, were destroyed by people, and the use of computers was prohibited under threat of death.

However, as it turned out later, the Thinking Machines were not completely destroyed, and Omnius, just before his destruction, managed to send his copy to a secret refuge on the outskirts of the universe, where the machines began their revival. Many millennia later, during the Scattering, the forces of the Honored Matres accidentally discovered and destroyed their outpost, and soon the Thinking Machines launched a full-scale counterattack, destroying the human worlds and forcing those who left for the Scattering to flee to the center of the old galactic Empire. Almost 15 thousand years after the Batlerian Jihad, the Thinking Machines led by Omnius and Erasmus begin a full-scale invasion of the remaining worlds of humanity in order to take revenge and destroy people forever.

The Honored Matres are a matriarchal aggressive cult that arose in the era of the Scattering after the death of the God-Emperor Leto II Atreides. It was founded by the fugitive Reverend Mothers and disciples of the Bene Gesserit Order, as well as the remnants of the Fish Speakers, who in search of a better life went into deep space and accidentally discovered the secret planet-colonies of the Bene Tleilaxu, where for many years women were mercilessly used as axolotl vats to produce human clones. The Honored Matres revere strength, their physical and reflex development goes beyond human limits, and passion and sexual lust are their main weapons for enslaving their enemies and a means of achieving goals. The matrons oppose themselves to the Bene Gesserit and at the same time, in their organization they try to be like the Order - but they lack the mental training and discipline of the Order's novices because of indulging their passions, for which they are contemptuously called Benegesserites "whores".
The Honored Matres led the forces of those returning from the Scattering, waging a long war against the remnants of the old Empire. It was their attack that led to the complete destruction of Dune and the death of most of the Bene Gesserit Order. After these events, the captive matron Murbella (having become the Reverend Mother and who killed the Supreme Matron) unites two organizations that, stopping the bloodshed, jointly try to resist the threat of total destruction of mankind by thinking machines.

The House Harkonnen is one of the great and mighty Houses of the Empire, the sworn enemy of the House Atreides, led by Siridar-Baron Vladimir Harkonnen and his nephews - Glossu "The Beast" Rabban and Feyd Rautha with the capital on the planet Giеdi Prime. In contrast to the nobility and honor of the Atreides, the Harkonnens used any means to achieve their goals - from bribery and blackmail to murder and betrayal, without disdaining to use them even against each other, within their family (For example, an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Feyd Rautha on his uncle Baron Vladimir Harkonnen and the killing of father by Rabban). Tempted in intrigue, the Harkonnens entered into a secret alliance with Emperor Shaddam IV in order to permanently crack down on the Atreides, to seize the monopoly on the extraction of spice on Arrakis and thereby become the most influential and wealthy House in the Empire. But the killing of the Duke Leto by the Harkonnens and the defeat of the House Atreides led to the fact that around the fleeing children and the Duke's wife (Paul, Alia Atreides and Lady Jessica) rallied Fremen of Dune, who subsequently destroyed the troops of the Harkonnens and their allies sardaukars invading Arrakis, resulting in House Harkonnen was completely exterminated.

At the Battle of Arrakeen, after the assassination of the Baron and the death of brother Rabban, Feyd became head of House Harkonnen and volunteered to defend the honor of the imperial throne in a knife fight with Paul Atreides. In the deadly duel, Feyd Rautha came very close to victory, but he was ultimately impaled by Paul's fremen blade. With the death of Feyd, the Harkonnen no longer have heirs, as a result of which the House ceases to exist and only one Kwisatz Haderach remains - Paul Atreides.

The tacit patronage of the God-Emperor gave them the opportunity to circumvent the ban, but dissatisfied with this privilege, they decided to take part in the conspiracy against Leto II and specially raising their ambassador for him. Leto II, for more than 3,500 years, has almost completely lost its human appearance due to its merger with the sand trout of Arrakis, turning into a sandworm practically invulnerable to weapons and knowing about the conspiracy, nevertheless went on with the Ixians, as it could not resist in front of her feelings for Hwi Noree, who in turn reciprocated, even under conditions of only platonic love. Sardaukars - the imperial guard, the best soldiers of the army of the padishah-emperors of the House Corrino, who have occupied the throne of the Golden Lion for more than 10 thousand years. Sardaukars are described as cruel and strong warriors, at any moment ready to give their lives for the sake of the plans of the imperial throne, and which alone in their military strength and skill were equated to ten ordinary warriors-mercenaries of the Great Houses. They were recruited by the padishah-emperors on Salusa Secundus - a cruel and dead planet-prison, along with their former training ground, where future sardaukars underwent fierce training and the weak ones were weeded out naturally in childhood, unable to withstand excessive physical and mental stress. Legions of the sardaukars maintained peace and order in the Empire, being the agents of the politics of House Corrino in the most remote corners of their space state. The Battle for Arrakis (in particular the Battle of Arrakin) is the culmination of Jihad Muad’Dib, a policy to establish the hegemony of the House Atreides in the Empire, after the overthrow of Shaddam IV. The troops of Paul Atreides, who became the messiah for Fremen of Dune, their Mahdi (translated from Fremen as “the chosen one.” Another nickname of Paul is “Muad'Dib” means “Rat of the Desert”) - they fired all over the worlds with fire and sword to contribute to the establishment of the new padishah-emperor. After that, she breaks her ties with Bene Gesserit and vows to take on the upbringing of his children, who, with the departure of Paul, are left completely alone (their mother Chani died after childbirth). With the escape of Leto II into the desert, Irulan is beside his sister Ghanima and takes part in a conspiracy against Alia Atreides on the side of Lady Jessica, for which she was captured by supporters of the priestess-regent and sentenced to death. Returning Leto II and the death of Alia as a result of suicide saved the life of Irulan.

Princess Irulan Corrino was known for her love of literature - she was also the personal biographer of Paul Muad’Dib and author of many books about him and his sayings.

The House Ordos is not mentioned in the original Frank Herbert book series on Dune, so it is not a canonical Great House. This House was mentioned in the unofficial «Dune Encyclopedia» in 1984 and later used as an alternative force in a series of games from the Westwood company (for example, Dune II: The Battle for Arrakis) , which opposes the House Atreides and Harkonnen, as well as the imperial sardaukars of House Corrino and other in the struggle for possession of the planet Arrakis and its spice deposits.

The patrimony of this House is the planet Sigma Dragon IV, whose climate is like ice hell. The House Ordos itself is not a House in the understanding of the family and the noble dynasty - it is rather a syndicate, a political union of several powerful space entrepreneurs (calling themselves Executrix) who decided to work together to achieve their goals. Their origin, as well as their intentions, is shrouded in mystery, but their Speaker is even more mysterious - a person (or a creature similar to him) whose cables are pulled to the head by means of which the heads of the House Ordos simultaneously connect their minds and express a common will for everyone around them by the mouth of the Speaker. Ordos are inherent arrogance and coldness, they prefer to act covertly and unnoticed, and will enter into an alliance with absolutely any force if this helps to strengthen their own influence. Ordos are prey to technological developments (there is a version of their close contacts with the planet Ix and Bene Tleilaxu) and often resort to the services of mercenaries to do the dirty work with the wrong hands. Their favorite tactics are sabotage, betrayal and bribery, thanks to which the Ordos force their enemies to perish in civil strife from their own weapons. To achieve their goals, they will not stop before anyone - be it the coalition of Great Houses or the legions of the sardaukars of the Padishah-Emperor himself.
