Don't Gotta Be So Bad

After being on the road for the last few years as an engineer, guitar/keyboard tech and producer, Dunx is finally getting the chance to turn his attention towards his own craft, and it certainly has been worth the wait. A fresh offering of surf blues and desert rock bursting into the Irish scene, this release is a welcome follow-up second single written and produced by Dunx himself, and recorded recently at Dublin’s hottest new recording studio The Clinic. 

Inspired by the likes of Pixies, Amy Winehouse and Nick Cave - he is making his mark with a highly refined and distinguished sound. Guitar centric, filled to the brim with contemplative lyrics and a distinctive vocal sound makes Dunx an artist to certainly sit up and take note of with his new release One Of Us due out on Friday 26th March 2021.

S O N G   B I O
One of Us was written as an internal conversation between the optimistic and dark side of one’s brain. In addition to the song being recorded at David Curley’s (Otherkin) studio, The Clinic, David also plays bass. Dylan Lynch (Soda Blonde, Little Green Cars) lends percussion, Dunx mixed the track himself, and mastered by Idania Valencia at Sterling Sound (New York). It is the second original release under the moniker Dunx, and is the first release of many this year for this exceptionally exciting artist.

A R T I S T  B I O
Dunx is an Irish born, Australian raised musician, singer and songwriter. He has worked in the studio and on the road as an engineer, guitar/keyboard tech and producer for the last several years with U2 before finally turning his focus to working on his own music. During downtime on tours he spent time hours writing, drawing inspiration from travel and nature, filtered through his sometimes sunny, sometimes solemn state of mind. He writes, records, and produces all of his own tracks, most recently at his friend David Curley’s recording studio The Clinic. Dunx enjoys the creative community in Dublin collaborating with friends like Sorcha Richardson and Blood Donor. Recent releases include his debut single ‘Don’t Gotta Be So Bad’ and a cover of Pixies ‘Caribou', featuring Dylan Lynch on drums and Saint Sister’s Gemma Doherty on harp. 


His previous life as a producer and engineer has taken him to great heights working in Abbey Road, Electric Lady, Shangri La, Third Man Records to name a few, and working with inspiring musicians that have gone before him such as U2, Sorcha Richardson, Camilla Cabello, Inhaler and more. He’s also worked on large scale tours, festivals and TV performances for SNL, Jimmy Fallon, Live at The BBC and The Grammys - so it’s about time for him to step into the limelight in his own right.
