'Luna, Rojo y Palmera' (Moon, Red & Palm Tree) makes reference to a magical night with red hues on a warm beach somewhere in the Caribbean. A dreamy night, filled with melancholy from the humming sounds coming from the coast.

For this release, KEENE wanted to create contrast, yet keep the characteristic sound that represents their Cacao Records label.

Berlin Techno queen Anja Schneider offers a huge remix taking its cues from breakbeats providing a retro-future feel, building through bobbing arpeggios. A melancholic and theatrical mix, complemented by big sweeps and minor chords that punctuate in the background. A massive remix that hypnotises.

Complementing this, is an Afro interpretation from Saint Evo, a gifted DJ/Producer from the Savannah plains of Kenya, home of the famed Maasai people. Constantly bringing the sensuous vocals from Barbie Williams who combines playfully with Evo's characteristic stabs. Massive breakdowns resulting in an energetic centered raw lead, accented by bleeps and sweeps for extra zest. A mind-melting remix for the more melodic Afro house enthusiasts.'

Premiere: KEENE, David Mayer - Luna, Rojo & Palmera (Saint Evo Remix) [Cacao Records]

For the KEENE's debut Club Bad release, they have delivered a super elegant yet powerful two track EP titled ‘Legendary Mother’. The first and title track of the EP is an edgy house track with touches of afro, percussive tendencies, organs, bells, and trumpets, combined with subtle vocal cuts from the "Golden Era" of the ball movement back in the late 80s, giving the right vibe that works perfectly for the dance floor.
 
On the flip side we have ‘Avenida Central’ which is a Brazilian funk influenced house track that reflects memories from the street in Panama's city centre of the same name. The track features well worked looped samples, guitar and horn licks creating a great organic feel to the track and rounds off this EP to perfection.

The KEENE brothers hail from Panama and have been producing together since 2010. They’re known for their seductive deep house, house and techno with ethnic and organic touches. They launched their own Cacao Records label back in 2016 and have featured artists like Steve Bug, Re.You, Black Loops, Emmanuel Jal, and Stereo MC's. The brothers have released on high quality labels like Sol Selectas, Get Physical, Monaberry, whilst collaborating with artists like Anja Schneider, Kiwi, Floyd Lavine, Boddhi Satva and more.

Panama-born and now Berlin-based duo KEENE deliver a deep and trippy interpretation of the Sparrow & Barbossa 'Saudades Do Mar’ on their Cacao Records label, which celebrated its 5th Anniversary last year. Stompy toms, unusual percussive rhythms, a wild heated melodic line and some acid to spice up the day complements the outstanding vocals in Portuguese from Tosz, making it an outstanding remix to look up.

Feeling extremely excited and proud for giving continuity to KEENE and Kaleta's release 'Ayessi', this time in collaboration with the internationally renowned music producer and composer Henrik Schwarz. It also includes an outstanding remix from one of our favourite artists 'Philou Louzolo', responsible for bridging the gap between afro diaspora sounds and House and Techno.

Henrik Schwarz came up with two versions in wonderfully colourful fashion, sunny vibes and a triumphant feel that completely envelops this production, with shimmering disco hi-hats bringing the rhythm urgency and subtle strings and blips filtering away in the bedrock of the composition. A buzzing synth bores a tunnel through the centre of the groove while perfectly blending with Kaleta's vocals.

Philou Louzolo showed his prolific production skills in all its glory with each element carefully positioned to keep things energetic, laying the foundation of a dancefloor bomb. It features an array of warm arpeggios that adds bright colours to the mix, with driving afro percussion pushing the track along with a gentle sort of power. Kaleta's vocals and blasts from sprightful trumpets were efficiently used bringing tension to the mix.

Berlin-based, Belgium-born Strummer has been a Get Physical associate for several years. He has dropped various singles including the standout 'Rising' which also featured on the Words Don't Come Easy series, and always crafts the perfect mix of rhythm and melody with plenty of hints of his homeland's famous cold wave sound. He often uses his own voice, drum machines, synths and guitars in his music, and since his debut album in 2018 on LOK Recordings, he has had high profile support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Adam Port and Ame. This summer, he dropped 'Atmosphere' on Obsolet Records which proved another successful outing and now Berlin Gets Physical finds him digging deep into the famous city's freshest and most essential house sounds across 15 well-sequenced tracks.

For their latest release on Cacao, they return to their roots, both musically and emotionally. ‘Villa Lucre Jazz Club’ is a deep, hypnotic journey built on bold brass stabs, rich keys, and a strong sense of rhythm inspired by Panamanian drumming legend Billy Cobham. Intense, with attitude and intention.

The brass sections were recorded live by a Ukrainian orchestra, adding raw soul and cinematic weight to the track. Eren Solak is on the keys.

Jazz played an important role in shaping their creative language, teaching them about freedom, expression, and the beauty of improvisation. It fed their curiosity and expanded their sense of rhythm and structure.

Villa Lucre, the neighborhood they grew up in, never had a jazz club, but the idea of one always felt like a distant dream. So they built one... through sound.

На их счету четыре проекта зарекомендовавшие себя не только в Панаме, но и в Европе.
Flashmob Music Movement и Boat Affairs это вечеринки направленные на привозы международных артистов, гостями которых уже побывали: tINI, Radio Slave, Till Von Sein, Benoit & Sergio, Anja Schneider, Rodriguez Jr. Dj Tennis, Henrik Schwarz, Soul Clap, Adam Port, &ME и Hot Since 82.

Так же для поддержки музыкантов в Панаме K.E.E.N.E. запустили лейбл Late Night Music,деятельность которого занимается продвижением артистов на международный рынок.


K.E.E.N.E. - House Traffic Guest Mix

The name of the EP is Goroboteando alsón del Tambor, which means in Portobelo's Congo Dialect: Dancing to the beat of the drums.The Congo Dance of Panama is the most unique and colorful manifestation of folklore in the province of Colon. The dance has its roots in Africa and came to Panama by way of escaped former slaves known as “Cimarrons”.

The Congo is not just a dance, but is also a form of expression by which the “Cimarrons” convey their feelings of anger, pain and joy. It was also a way to strengthen their spirit. The dance tells a story, as the characters acting out a fight with the devil who is said to be loose during the Carnival. At the end they are saved by the “Reina Conga” (the Queen of Congos), helped by “Pajarito” (little bird) and “Juan de Dios” (John God). The Congo Dance represents a fusion between their Colonial past and their African culture.
