Freaky Social is a DJ collective from South Manchester founded by good friends Marvin Jay and Matt Hassall who met while presenting shows on local radio.  Marv and Matt have been DJing for 30+ years and have played both locally in Manchester at various clubs (most notably The Hacienda, Sankeys Soap, The Music Box, Joshua Brooks, Prague V, Berlin, Manto's and Club CODE amongst others) as well as playing gigs across the UK and iInternationally. Beginning in the early 90’s, they cut their teeth playing mainly house and garage sets although now you can hear them dropping everything from balearic, downtempo, electronica to disco, soul, acid and all manner of cosmic wonky weirdness at their monthly pub raves.

Emotional] Especial looks back at the first 9 releases since its inception to provide a selection or "Eleccio" via a special dubbed out DJ meets studio mix from label stalwart Jamie Paton. 

Ever since the first white labels appeared at the end of Summer 2013, [Emotional] Especial has been busy putting out music that are their own warped take on club music. Mixing the influences of dub, electro, disco, proto-house, house and techno, a sound appeared without any preordained plan.

To celebrate the end of the first series of releases come EES10CD - a DJ meets studio compilation mix created by label artist, remixer and even in-house designer, Jamie Paton. Featuring tracks from every EP, including two unreleased remixes are the tight productions of Richard Sen; the wiggle of Scott Fraser; deep, chugging Cage & Aviary dubs; the Eastern influences of Baris K and newcomers Khidja; the quirky discoid wonk of Maurice & Charles and finally not forgetting of course, the stand out Timothy J Fairplay touches. Whether alongside Mr Weatherall, Andy Blake or in solo remix mode, young "Junior"s skills (and name) grows and grows.

All this is perfectly put together by Jamie Paton, the man who launched the label with his Bizarre Feeling EP. As well as the inclusion of several unreleased cuts, Jamie has edited the 
"selection", adding live studio dubbing, FX and the odd mega-mix to make it truly (E)special.

Barbara Preisinger has been an integral part of the Berlin club scene since moving from
Munich in the late 90s. In 2009 she launched her vinyl label SLICES OF LIFE.

Barbara Preisinger first began dj-ing in 1996 in her hometown of Munich and was soon playing regularly at the green flokati room of the "ultraschall" club. in the Summer of 1998 Barbara left Munich for Berlin, where she started working as a freelance press and radio promoter for electronic music. In the years that followed she represented various labels and acts from the experimental music scene, ranging from straight clubsounds to electronic pop and indie-electronia. 
1999 saw her co-found the label ˜scape, together with Stefan Betke aka Pole, creating an open platform for the productions of Kit Clayton, Jan Jelinek, Deadbeat, Pole amongst many others. Before long she was a resident dj at regular scape nights in berlin and other locations within europe, japan and also further afield in north america. 
Her passion is to play for the dancefloor, mixing kicking house and deep techno all the while remaining open towards interesting and outstanding tunes that makes you move. And she has been doing exactly that at many prestigious location around the globe in recent years, including festivals as Sonar, Benicassim, DEMF, Club Transmediale Berlin, Mutek, Mutek Chile, SOCO Monteviedeo, Unsound Festival New York and Poland, Todays Art .....to mention but a few. 

Autumn 2009 Barbara Preisinger launched the 12inch vinyl label SLICES OF LIFE where she is releasing music by friends and relatet artists like Betke, Mike Huckaby, The Mole, Baaz, John Tejada....
