One of my all-time fave rock songs and your voice is perfect to cover Springsteen! Great touch with Words of Love thrown in there, which I first knew via The Beatles.

Gotta love Buddy Holly-not familiar with this song --really  nice job Craig!!

Rather than follow the traditional path for this classic Christmas song we decided to change the words just a bit so the story is quicker paced than usual and told in the present tense. The message is eternal and unchanging and we hope our acoustic folk version will express it as well as any other version has for generations. Wishing everyone a very joyful Christmas 2022!

Another World

Here is a new track I wrote and recorded.

The song was written as part of a concept album that I started a year or so ago. I may never actually record the full album but might release the songs over time. The album was going to be about my ancestors living in Newfoundland and the stories i heard over the years.

This one is about the story of how Braggs Island (where my grandfather was born) got its name. I heard the story from my late cousin Sam Feltham. He said there was a small community living on the Island and one tough winter they ran out of supplies and were in a bad way. A man named Bragg and his two sons loaded a boat with supplies and attempted to bring relief to them. In the process and storm developed and the ship sank and Bragg and his sons were drowned. They named the Island after them in honor of the selfless sacrifice they made.

I tried to capture with sound the feeling of sailing on icy seas. Also I wanted to tell the story in an artistic way. Not sure if the song is any good but hope some of you enjoy it.

This is a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Badlands", a song I've loved since I was in a band that covered it briefly back around 1980. My usual approach to cover songs is to try to change it up considerably from the original version, and here I was hoping to come out with something very bluegrass, including various modifications to the tune within reason. But two things happened. First, other than the acoustic instrumentation, I didn't really capture anything highly bluegrassy, and second, I had a hard time diverting too much from Bruce's original interpretation of his song. Try as I might, I just love singing it pretty much as he intended. However, I did somehow decide to mix in numerous references to Buddy Holly's "Words of Love" which can be heard throughout the song. It sort of blends the rough edged "Badlands" with the childlike simplicity of Buddy's "Words". Two iconic rock artists. Works for me...
