I like this style of raw acoustic country music. Nice to have a variety of songs within a 16 minute stretch. I can sit on the porch with a beer and just listen....

I decided to let loose with this crazy idea of stringing a bunch of very crude home recordings together, complete with all sorts of background noises and family banter. They were all recorded on my iPhone next to my kitchen where my wife and daughter sound like they must have been building a house! I also quickly added some rough harmonies to create some depth on the original recordings. These are some of my favorite country and country/folk songs of all time and I hope someone will enjoy taking this 16-minute journey with me, just sitting around the kitchen sharing some classic tunes. Each song covered is just a brief snippet of the original, usually no more than a minute each, and i took some liberties in how I sampled each one....

I think it’s important to say that a lot more women than you think have had one or multiple miscarriages. It’s just that it is a subject not often talked about because of the very personal pain that the couple go through. The unborn life has no contact with anybody else except the mother and the emotions are often only remembered by the mother and father.
When Jo and I were expecting our second child we were very excited and looking forward to having another Reeves in our growing family. I will never forget the day that we were told we were going to lose the baby and once told, left sitting in an open A & E waiting area having to cope with all our raw emotions and the prospect of the impending loss amongst the rest of the other patients.
Jo had to go through a painful operation to terminate the pregnancy and it is a day she will never forget. We were a family of three planning being a family of four having now to plan being a family of three recovering from an invisible loss and explain it to our young son.
It was an extremely difficult time but we were fortunate that after a few years we did have two more children. Jo tells me that although it is difficult to explain the connection she had with the unborn child that the presence of life inside her will never be forgotten.
I felt I couldn’t let this moment in our lives pass by without acknowledging our unborn child in some way. The rollercoaster of emotions we shared at that time from euphoria at increasing our family to devastation and bereavement at our loss were felt intensely only by Jo and myself played it’s part in forging the strong bond we have had throughout our relationship. Wrote this song while vacationing in Acapulco. I wanted to include “you know - you know I love you” in spanish in the song. So I asked the Hotel Chamber Maid how to to say this in her language. She started giving me strange & weird looks until I realized she thought I was trying to make some moves on her. Then I explained to her that it was for a song chorus and everything was cool!

Satin Sheets was a popular country hit song written by John Volinkaty and first recorded by Bill Anderson and Jan Howard on their March 1972 duet album, Bill & Jan or (Jan & Bill). It was then famously covered by American country music artist Jeanne Pruett in February 1973 as the first single and title track from her album of the same name. The song was Pruett's only Number One country hit, as well as her only chart entry on the Billboard Hot 100.
Nat & I were asked by Jerry Madden if we would collaborate on this classic cover and we were all too happy to do so. Jerry shows his tasty guitar playing throughout and we thank him for giving us the opportunity to join him here.
