Trashcan Panda is an alternative garbage rock band based out of Vancouver, B.C. Their other genres include Blues Pop, Indie Trash, and Fun Punk.

With influences from late 60's proto-punk to modern day indie pop, the band's songs combine catchy hooks and melodies with hard-hitting riffs, and a few twists and turns along the way. They currently live, play, and record in Vancouver, B.C.

The initial concept for this was to create the music in the palace of the Ork emperor; not sure if it got there, but I like it. Instruments: NES samples, a dog, the pump for an air-mattress, a tennis racket, a harmonica, a Lowrey organ, Ejay Clubworld for the PS2, wax cylinder samples, the voice-synthesizers from my old iBook, radio static, a soda can opening, a kids' book with an electronic sound-effect thing, various thrift-store keyboards, a plastic pumpkin, a dog toy, a wire sculpture I found in the trash,

Some of my favorite bands liked to say they made the music of things falling apart; I make the music for it to twitch by, in a post-post-modern world where even the garbage has a dance-mix. Influences as diverse as Fad Gadget, Lawrence Welk, Devo, Stomp, and Harry Belafonte, plus power tool automatic rhythms and electronic toys. I don't understand why people will use thousand-dollar equipment to synthesize awful whining noises for their dubstep, instead of recording the squeal of a homemade electric scooter.
