Ryan Blackman (@farfromthesun) is a London-based DJ who has been active since the mid90s, playing records at clubs such as Final Frontier, Sabresonic, and most significantly LOST. Artists ranging from Aphex Twin and Autechre to Jeff Mills, Claude Young, and Jay Denham, among others, were an inspiring influence in his early years. Later on, he went on to promote his own event across Europe, allowing him to continue with his passion: play and collect electronic music. On this occasion, he presents a well-turned mix that offers different approaches to electro, eclectic, and perfectly blent. Enjoy it!

Founded in 2017 off the back of a notorious party flat that resulted in residents reporting it to the local newspaper, with headlines around Dundee reading "HILLTOWN DISCO PARTY ANGER".

This evolved into a collective, parties, and the record label we are familiar with today. The aim of the label was to showcase he talent in the close friend group and beyond.

Over the 5 years, the label has released with artists such as Ole Mic Odd, PRZ, Violet, Dexorcist, Chris Moss Acid, Robyrt Hecht, W1b0 on both vinyl and digital. 

HD works closely with mental-health project, Art Angel, raising funds and awareness for the mental health project through their angel series releases. 

Future music on our 5 year anniversary record featuring w1b0, larionov & St. Theodore, ole mic odd, Robyrt Hecht, and PRZ, due end of 2022

Our next release is in August featuring Jauzas The Shining, CYRK, Alonzo, Isolated Material, and Rogue Filter.

DJ Overdose

For those who know, DJ Overdose is one of the pillars of the Dutch electro scene. He is a low-key yet vital artist who hails from The Hague but is based in Rotterdam, and his unique take on electro oozes the atmospheres of these famous musical cities.

Ever since starting out in the eighties, he has been looking to cook up a sense of fun, “where the subs are devastating and the beats are raw.” He underpins his work with booming Miami bass and tends not to look outwards across the contemporary landscape, instead, he continues to draw on his love of 80s hip hop for inspiration, then skews it through his own lens.

Famously dexterous in the booth, DJ Overdose has well-honed skills that make him able to tear up a larger stage or connect with a more intimate crowd. Electro, Dutch electronics, 80’s pop, Kraftwerk and of course Miami bass can all feature and his deserving reputation has taken him to gigs across the US and Canada as well as key events in Europe.

In the studio, Overdose is a master technician on a range of hardware. By now, he speaks his own language through these machines, whether working solo or in previous collaborations with the likes of Alden Tyrell or Mr Pauli. As well as under his own name, he works under aliases like Dream Disco, HAEX-HRLL, Extranova and Model Man, but never puts out music for the sake of it.

Instead, he has a small but perfectly formed discography that includes mutant electro-funk and ghetto disco albums, as well as EPs that touch on sci-fi-tinged soundtracks and more dark and fatalistic adventures. They come on cult labels like Viewlexx, Pinkman, L.I.E.S., Unknown to the Unknown, Creme Organization and his own RotterHague. It is a label that brings him together with artists from around the world for a series of EPs called ‘Where Cities Collide,’ where sonic similarities and stylistic differences are explored and embraced.

For DUSK218 the RotterHague head honcho send us a mix recorded at the legendary Operator Radio shack in 2019. Freshly squeezed beats with a pinch of sea salt. This mix sounds like it’s prepared like an eight-course meal cooked up by a Michelin chef. Expect none other than that sweet-sweet West Coast sound.

While coming to the light side of the scene relatively recently, she has turned heads with her performances at Dekmantel Selectors, DT Camp, Conflux Festival, and next to the likes of Zohar, I-F, Ofra, Gamma Intel, and of course Marsman.
Her obsession with music is once again on show in this mix; as she drifts away from her normal eclectic blend of EBM, industrial, electro & avant-garde in this one, the result is what can only be described as pure filth. Haunting soundscapes driven by half-time percussion is the mood for DUSK226, get your skank face on folks.

I am honored to welcome Milan Hermess next on Haus Nummer 11. 

Milan is a true music freak and vinyl lover with over a decade of DJing experience and co-runs the ever evolving Mechatronica, a Berlin-based record label, promoter and collective founded in 2012. 

Heavily influenced by the West Coast Sound of Holland and Berlin’s nightlife culture, his mixes touch upon all genres within alternative dance music. For HN11, he cooked up a thrilling mix of moody soundscapes, heavy percussion, trippy rollers and a pinch of classy electro.
